The excursions of “Loano not only sea”, the walking program organized by the Loano section of the C.A.I.. under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Municipality of Loano.
Thursday, May 25 the destination of the trip will be the Grange di Rubbio (mt. 1295), in the Maira Valley.
“The hike we are going on this week," explains Beppe Peretti, CAI hiking companion-is organized in collaboration with the CAI senior group of Fossano on the occasion of the annual meeting of seniors from Liguria and Piedmont. These meetings, which have already been established in other regions for some time, represent a very recent tradition for us. The first one in fact took place last year in Andora, promoted and organized by our section and group.
The start of the hike is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. from the central square of San Damiano Macra (middle Maira Valley). From here we will climb an easy dirt road through meadows, woods and cultivated fields. We will enjoy wide views of the valleys and nearby mountains, until we reach the alpine villages of Grange di Rubbio, where we will all eat packed lunch together. After lunch, the descent will be via a beautiful half-hill path, also very scenic and called “Percorso Occitano,” which will take us first to the ancient little church of San Bernardo and the village of Camoglieres and then to the chapel of San Salvatore and the town of Macra, where the bus will be waiting for us to return.
This week's excursion will be done by bus, but since the available seats have been sold out for a few days, there is a possibility for those who still want to participate to arrange and organize some private cars that will drive themselves to the excursion starting point.”
CAI hikes are. free. For enrollment and information contact by 12 noon on the day before the activity is to be held on 019.67.23.66 or 349.78.54.220.{:}
