{:en}PRESS RELEASE (4/25/2017)
Thursday, April 27 the hiking review “Loano not only sea”, curated by the Loano section of the C.A.I.. under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Municipality of Loano, will provide a new opportunity to spend a pleasant day outdoors.
The destination of this week's itinerary will be Barbena Rock (mt. 1141).
The meeting for participants will be at 8:30 a.m. In the Valerga Square parking lot.
“The walk," explains Beppe Peretti, CAI hiking companion of Loano - will start from Giogo di Toirano. On the left side of the Giogo will begin the itinerary that, at first on a dirt road and then on a path, will follow a stretch of the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri and among thick woods will pass Mount Sebanco and reach the locality Colletta.
Here you will leave the AVML to continue along a path that will go up the ridge and among woods, meadows and panoramic openings will reach the small cross placed on the summit of Rocca Barbena (mt 1141), from which you will enjoy a spectacular view both of the coast and towards the Bardineto basin and the Po Valley. For the more trained there will be the possibility, just beyond the Colletta, to lengthen the itinerary by taking a path on the right that with a fairly flat course will follow the AVML and lead to the Scravaion pass. From here you will climb to the summit of Rocca Barbena with a challenging itinerary, with steep, rocky and sometimes overhanging sections. The return will be by retracing the outward route.”
The excursions are free. For participation in the trips of non-CAI members, accident and mountain rescue insurance is required, which must be requested by noon on the day before the activity is to be held by calling 019.67.23.66 or 349.78.54.220.{:}
