Sports will be featured in the Loano September. The program sponsored by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano in collaboration with the sports clubs will range from tennis at cycling, from the volleyball at running and to the sailing.
“The September of sports is back. - explains Councillor Remo Zaccaria - As has become tradition, from late August through early October, sports activities will take center stage with events that will bring athletes, instructors, referees, managers, chaperones and the public to our city. Sports and tourism will intertwine to offer athletes and fans enjoyable weekends at Loano, fueling tourist attendance.”
To inaugurate the September Sports, will be the Tennis Tournament Limited 4.1 Male and Female, which will take place from today until September 6 at Tennis Club Loano. The 4th category competition features singles matches.
Over the weekend. September 12 and 13 will take place on 30th World Cycling Championship bakers, pastry chefs and related, organized by the’A.S.D. G.S. Loabikers. Cycling enthusiasts (men and women) working in the baking industry will participate in the competition. The 10-km loop route with an elevation gain of 177 meters will touch the municipalities of Loano, Boissano, Toirano and will be repeated several times according to category.
Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, will feature the youth volleyball with the’ 8th Riviera of Palms National Tournament, organized by the’ A.S.D. St. Pius X Volleyball. Four trophies in all will be contested over the long weekend of sports: the’113rd Liliana Tassara Trophy reserved for the category Under 18 Female, the 13th Giuseppe Guzzetti Trophy for Under 16 Women's, the 9th Domenico Dama Memorial for Under 14 Women's and the 4th Pollupice Trophy for Under 18 Men's. The tournament will be held on 8 courts: in Loano (Palazzetto dello Sport , PalaGuzzetti, Istituto Giovanni Falcone), in Borghetto S.S. (Palazzetto dello Sport), in Toirano (Palazzetto dello Sport). All 1st 2nd place finals will be held in the Palazzetto dello Sport of Loano.
Sunday, September 20, Loano revives the spectacular competitive running race Tour of the Walls - Paolo Romanisio Memorial, coming this year to the ninth edition.
The route is now the traditional one, over the distance of 10 kilometers, which will see competitors running along the waterfront and around the perimeter of the ancient city walls. The Route, which is FIDAL-certified, this year will also be a single trial of the Italian Veterans of Sports Championship. The meeting and arrival will be in Italy Square, the departure (10 a.m.) in Cadorna Square.
The September Sports will close on Oct. 3 and 4 with the international regattas of the Baietto Trophy Class 420 L'Equipe, organized by the Nautical Circle Loano.
