PRESS RELEASE (7/21/2015)
Wednesday, July 22, a Loano, the Mad Grass Theater will return to animate the review of summer children's theater, included in the project “Loano for the Family”, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano, and curated by the I.So THeatre with the artistic direction of Luca Malvicini.
At 9:30 pm, in the’Prince's Garden Summer Arena, curtain will be raised on the folk tale “Rapunzel”. The main characters will be large puppets moved on sight by the narrator, Daniele Debernardi, who will live the story with them, moving the characters in a harmony of sounds and noises that characterize various moods.
The story that will be staged has ancient origins (the earliest forms date back to the 1600s) and, as is often the case, has spread throughout Europe with some variations, but the characters and places have remained the same.
Italian writer Cesare Basile in 1600 wrote PETROSINELLA, Italo Calvino revived PREZZEMOLINA in the Italian fairy tale collection, and in Germany the Brothers Grimm wrote RAPERONZOLO. And it is from this version that this sparkling and comically rich show was born.
RAPERONZOLA is the adventure of a long-braided maiden and an orca who holds her captive in a tower, but a prince will come and free her.
On this simple plot a magical scenic development has been realized in the eyes of the beholder. Inside a kind of spinning “tower of Babel,” inspired by the sculptures of Trentino artist Pietro Weber, the whole story unfolds.
The evening is at free admission.
