Loano presents on the weekend of the May 9 and 10, the Ligurian Cake Festival, an appointment dedicated to the discovery of typical local products and cuisine.
The initiative, organized by the’Old Loano Association under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano, proposes for two days on the waterfront, near the Sea Workers' Cottage, the market exhibition of typical Ligurian products (oil, olives, olive pate, pesto, honey, and even artichokes, chard, asparagus, borage).
The highlight of this day will be the tasting of “ligurian cake”, featured with seven recipes that enhance local products.
The most famous is the “Pasqualina” pie (la verzina), in which olive oil, beets, eggs and cheese are admirably blended. Also on offer will be zucchini pie (from Albenga), artichoke pie (from Albenga), pumpkin pie, chard pie, turtin d'anciue (a Loano recipe), and sardenaira. The tasting menu will be completed by apricot and peach tart. All will be accompanied by typical wines.
The days' program includes the opening of the market exhibition at 9:30 a.m. and the opening of the tasting booths at the 12 noon.
Among the side events worth mentioning on Saturday afternoon is the Ligurian cake making demonstration and Sunday afternoon at 16.00 the concert of the interpreters of the’MJD Music Academy.
