Friday, December 5, Loano will turn on the A Thousand Lights of the Holidays, the Christmas artistic lighting, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano.

The party will involve at 14.00, in Italy Square, the pupils of the’Comprehensive Institute Loano-Boissanowho will perform a concert of Christmas carols.

At 16.00 will be opened the exhibition “The Tree House.” in favor of the’G. Gaslini Pediatric Institute of Genoa.

In the Mosaic Hall of Palazzo Doria drawings, videos and objects by the author will be on display Marta Delfino and drawings and ceramics by the pupils of the Loano peer elementary school “S.M.G. Rossello Institute.”.

The exhibited works are inspired by the theme of the song “Go Slowly Down” of the singer-songwriter Massimo Schiavon, a testimonial since 2012 for Gaslini.

The artist composed the song “Go Slowly Down” in support of the project “The Tree House, let's save Piccolo's dreams. Blue”,an initiative of the Pediatric Emergency Room of the Gaslini Institute in Genoa dedicated to children who have been abused and mistreated. This sensitive and difficult topic was supported by the music and poetry of Massimo Schiavon and the author Marta Delfino, who made a series of drawings resulting in a cartoon. The song became the Institute's anthem.

Completing the exhibition will be photographs on the themes of Massimo Schiavon's songs by authors Monica Torriani, Alessandro Gimelli and Marta Delfino.

The inauguration will be attended by the Prof. Vincenzo Lorenzelli, president of the Gaslini Onlus and the singer-songwriter Massimo Schiavon. At the end a snack of bread and oil will be offered to children. The exhibition will remain open until the’January 8 (Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-12:30pm/3pm-7:30pm).
From 16.30, animating the afternoon will be The Association “U Gunbu de Löa” who will present a wide repertoire of traditional Christmas folk songs.

At 17.30, the lighting of the big Christmas tree in Italy Square Will give the signal to turn on the artistic illuminations. A warm Christmas atmosphere will envelop Loano. Lights will draw the contours of the most beautiful corners and Christmas decorations will festively dress the city.

Also creating the festive atmosphere will be the Christmas Villagein the San Josemaria Escrivà Gardens, set up by the Multipurpose Cultural Center Association of Loano. Many small chalets in the heart of the city will recall the atmosphere of markets in northern European countries. The marketplace Christmas magic will offer visitors a wide selection of items related to the festive season. There will be no shortage of delicacies and drinks typical of the cold season. The market will open from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., the December 5, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14 and from the Dec. 20 to Jan. 6, every day except Dec. 25. The gardens will be adorned with a fairy-tale setting. Cold crystals will descend from the large cedars, and plays of lights and saplings will compose a winter garden. There will be the Santa's little house, where children will be able to mail their little letters, and an elf make-up artist for younger children. In addition, the December 7, 21, 28 initiative will take place Christmas Circus, circus arts workshop with the group Uncertain Circus.
