Music, dance, cabaret and entertainment for young and old: Loano's summer promises to be full of events, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano. The program is renewed in the name of continuity, involving the city with shows and animations that take into account the many tastes of tourists and residents. The season of events, which opened well in advance this year thanks to the spectacular Air Show will close in the fall with the Reenactment “1794 - the advance of the French” (Oct. 3/5), organized by the re-enactment 51eme Demi Brigade De Bataille.

 

On the evening of the summer solstice, we will get into the fun season with the White Night (June 21), organized the collaboration with the’ASCOM Loano.

The streets, squares, and waterfront will come alive with a great festival of live music that will warm up the evening in anticipation of the highlight, the concert by Arisa, in Italy Square, curated by the social cooperative I.So THeatre. Before the concert there will be a ceremony to present the Blue Flag at bathing establishments.

 

In the heart of the city, the’Summer Arena Prince's Garden, will again this year offer a full schedule of concerts with nationally renowned artists including. Raphael Gualazzi e Cristiano De Andrè. In addition, the big stage will feature concerts of opera, operetta, cabaret, dance, children's theater and cinema, organized by the Il Sestante Social Consortium and I.So THeatre with the artistic direction of Luca Malvicini.

From July 21 to 25, the sounds of tradition will be featured in the City of Loano National Award for Italian Traditional Music. For five days popular music will enliven the waterfront and the historic center with concerts, stages, dancing in the square, and meetings with musicians and journalists. Also, on the evenings of the festival, the 2013 Best Album Award, the Cultural Reality Award 2014 and the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award.

In the’summer 2014 two initiatives that in recent years have met with great public approval are confirmed: the music festival “Finally Friday.” e “Culture Tuesdays”.

Numerous events will be organized in collaboration with Loano associations: the Canine Review (June 28) promoted by the Pro Loco of Loano, the Gathering Band “E. Garassini” (July 12) organized by the S.M. Immaculate Music Association, Italian Night (July 19) programmed by the Old Loano Association, the Occitan Dances (Aug. 7, 28) with the Association “Bala in riva a u ma,” the ligurian folk music concerts (July 31 and August 21) with U Gunbu de Löa - Verzi, Night of Notes (August 22) sponsored by the Ligurian Tourism Development Association and Miss Pro Loco (August 24).

Loano's summer will have no shortage of charity and solidarity events benefiting voluntary associations. The civic school Attimo Danza, directed by Lorella Brondo, will tread the stage with the Dance Gala the July 3, in an evening to benefit the’Dopodomani Onlus Association. At Sisters of Charity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta will be dedicated the evening of song and dance Suddenly You, organized by the’Modern Jazz Dance Academy. The Loano section of the Italian Red Cross will benefit from the show of music, fashion, and cabaret A city for dreaming (July 6) of the’A.S.T.L. - LiguriaWebTv. July 11, The Prince's Garden will host a concert by singer-songwriter Massimo Schiavon with fundraising for the Gaslini of Genoa. On Francheville Pier, at the Ice Square, the July 19 the musical evening will be held Pink Night which will aim to raise funds for the Anti-Violence Center of the Women's Telephone Association. Finally, A parade of laughter (August 11) aims to support the’ADSO and the tournaments of Beach in Sports The Italian Leukemia Association onlus.

Children are reserved for the children's theater review, promoted by the’Department of Social Services of the City of Loano, which will take place in the Prince's Garden Summer Arena, as part of the project Loano family-friendly. Also aimed at younger children is the review “Cardboard Stories” (Aug. 5, 13, 20) as well as the sand castle contest Budding Architects” (July 15) with the final awards party (July 16).

Piazza Massena and Piazza Palestro will host over the course of the summer Crafts in the Square, review by Artist-craftsmen presenting original artifacts.

 

In Kursaal Palace Throughout the summer you can visit the exhibition Loano for the sea. The central hall of the Kursaal palace will display the most significant pieces of the collection dedicated to seafaring in Loano and the province of Savona, which the Marinara Lodanum Cultural Association has preserved with great care in the small museum.

Particularly rich is the calendar of initiatives in the mid-August week which alongside the events at the Prince's Garden - Abba Dream (August 12), Ariston Pro Ballet (August 14), Blues & Brothers (August 16) and Michelangelo Pulci (August 17) - offers concerts on the waterfront and the spectacular fireworks (August 14).

Lo sports will be present in the Loano summer with international events, national competitions and regional meetings, as well as tournaments on the beaches.

The calendar of sports events will open with the final round of the’European Summer Cups (July 3/6), organized by the Tennis Club Loano, European tennis championship valid for the designation of teams for the World Youth Championship.

From July 9 to 16 the Marina of Loano will be the basis for the Italian Absolute Sailing Championship organized by the Yacht Club of Loano and the Marina Yacht Club of Loano..

Not missing from the summer sports calendar will be the traditional national pairs bocce competition, Trophy “The Golden Palm - City of Loano” (Aug. 2/3).

Again at the Loano Tennis Club, at August, will be held on the August Bank Holiday Yellowjacket, Tennis tournament, doubles with draw, at night (Aug. 9/17). And always at night, this time on the fields of the Bocciodromo, August 18 to 27 will be played on the 37th Fossati Trophy.

Sports activities will also find space on the beach with the Bfly Beach Club Tournament of sand volleyball (July 19/20), organized from ASD Pius X Volleyball, and with the Beach in sports, organized by the Bagni Nettuno and Bagni Virginia, which will involve adults and children in bocce, beach volleyball and scala quaranta tournaments.

New this year will be the Olympics for dogs and owners which will take place on the beaches of Loano on the Sept. 27 and 28.

 

 

September will give as is now tradition a calendar full of sporting events. September 13 and 14 starring will be basketball with the XXVI Riviera of Palms Trophy, organized by the Basketball Pool 2000.

The weekend September 20 and 21 Will be dedicated to volleyball. On the two days, the 7th Riviera of Palms Tournament, organized by the’ASD St. Pius X Volleyball Loano.

September 21, downtown streets will be invaded by the competitive running race “Tour of the Walls”, competition now among the most prestigious in the industry in Liguria.

Always the September 21 the second edition of the Cycling Team Trophy Dedicated to the very young category.

Finally Friday ...

From July 4 to Aug. 30 the waterfront, in Orto Maccagli, will host the review Finally Friday with musical groups that will span the many genres of rock and pop.

Opening the live music event will be the ironic cover band This time my wife sends me to FUNK. (July 4). The review will continue with the concert Dire Straits tribute (July 11). The July 18 Neapolitan music will be featured with the Charon Group e Friday, August 1 will be celebrated on tribute to Madonna. The concert of the’August 8 with Arya Delgado will be dedicated to black music, soul and funk, and the August 15 l’Acquese Music Association A.M.A. will present a repertoire of light music songs and jazz standards. The festival will close with the evening Loano under the stars animated by the DJ Franco Branco. 

La live music will be the queen not only of Friday nights. Many concerts will enliven the summer evenings: the June 29, i Pesto Darkness in the Prince's Garden will kick off the 2014 summer tour. At Medusa Baths the July 19 will play the rock band Dirty Choppers and the August 17 will perform La Combricola del Blasco. On the waterfront, in Maccagli Garden, the August 9 will feature the cover band Bittersweet, the August 14 you can listen to the Pooh tribute by the DCS band (Where the sun begins) and the August 16 i Black Vinyl Dance & Fun Band will bring to life an evening to the rhythm of dance, rock and pop music.

L’S.M. Immaculata Music Association of Loano, will, then, star in two concerts at the Prince's Garden and one concert in the square. In the summer arena he will play as is tradition the June 30, as part of the July 2 celebrations, the July 12, on the occasion of the Band Gathering “E. Garassini” and in the square Rock Rock l’Aug. 8.

Loano's musical program will also be enriched by concerts of sacred music which will be housed in cloisters, oratories and churches.

In Cloister of St. Augustine concerts will be held of Sine Nomine Choir (July 5), of Paola Arecco (August 23 e September 6), of Silvano Rodi and Paola Viara (September 14).

L’Oratory of the Turks will host the July 27 and the August 27 the City of Loano Polyphonic Choir and the August 9 l’Rapallo Music Association. In addition, always in the Oratory Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, will continue the review “The Musics of the Soul.” that the August 25 will feature Stephen Rattini e Mauro Piazzi in a concerto for trombone and organ, the September 13 the musicians Nicholas Robinson, Marco Ruggeri, Lina Uinskyte, Gloria Gili who will present “Old-fashioned or modern, Mozart?” and the September 20 Graziano Salvoni With the guitar concert.

Culture Tuesdays

Summer is the best time to engage in reading, and the “Culture Tuesdays”, curated by I.So THeatre, is a good opportunity to get to know fine writers and poets.

It will be the Prince's Garden to host the review every Tuesday, at 6:30 pm. Leading the meetings with authors and giving exciting poetry readings will be Graziella Frasca Gallo, accompanied by the notes music performed by Maestro Roberto Sinito.

The review will kick off on the’July 8 with the authors Maurizio Lanteri and Lilli Luini who will present their successful thriller “The chapel of the gray penitents”. The July 29 will be the turn of the novel “Waiting by the Sea” which will feature as a guest speaker at the literary review the writer Marina Pratelli. Elena Buttiero e Ferdinando Molteni the August 12 will lead the audience into a pleasant yellow “The Devil's Trill, A Case for Titti Delucis.”. The last meeting with the author will take place on the August 26 with the well-known mystery writer Maurizio De Giovanni who will present his latest novel “At the bottom of your heart.”.

Finally, there will be three events dedicated to poetry and music (July 15, August 5 e August 19). Graziella Frasca Gallo will select verses from classic and contemporary poets dedicated to the sea, love and Liguria for the rhyming aperitifs. All accompanied by the sound of the guitar of the Master Roberto Sinito. All meetings will close with the’aperitif.

Prince's Garden Summer Arena

L’Prince's Garden Summer Arena will be the main stage for Loano's summer performances.

Rich musical program will range from pop music concerts to opera, from great live tributes to operetta. Among the most anticipated events are the concert by Raphael Gualazzi (July 18), of Cristiano De Andrè (August 2) and de Le Yavanna (Aug. 23)

I great live tributes will be dedicated to the Abba (August 12) and to the Blues Brothers (August 16). L’Aug. 8 Mr. Puma and the Raptus dariranno vitae a concert celebrating the 20th anniversary of the cult album “From Virus to Revelation” and the August 28 will stage the theatrical-musical performance of Nando Rizzo,John's World,” dedicated to John Lennon.

They will be two evenings dedicated to the operatic arias, both set up by the’Return to the Opera Association. The July 17 a selection of the most beautiful and significant musical pages from the opera “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, to a libretto by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, and the August 21 The most famous songs will be interpreted de The Barber of Seville” by Gioachino Rossini to a libretto by Cesare Sterbini.

From the Merry Widow to the Duchess of Bal Tabarin, from the Cavallino Bianco to Cin-Ci-Là, the best-known melodies of the Italian operettistic repertoire can be heard again on the July 31 on the occasion of the Operetta Grand Gala.

They are four the shows of dance featured in the Prince's Garden playbill. The 19  July the Ballet of Liguria will present “Dancing with Verdi”, show signed by Carlo Torre, with choreography danced to some of the most beautiful instrumental pages written by Verdi for dances included in his operas.

The August 4, the Argentine Tango Company, directed by Neri Piliu and Yanina Quinones, will lead the audience in an overwhelmingly rhythmic performance with atmospheres from the history and life of tango, revisited with a new understanding of Argentine folk art somewhere between dance and dance-theater.

Paolo Zambelli's original music, drawn from the folk tradition of waltz, tango and mazurka and combined with modern sounds related to jazz and rock, will be the soundtrack of the dance show “Ballades” (August 7) staged by the Fabula Saltica Company. L’Ariston Pro Ballet Will return to the stage of the Prince's Garden the August 14 with the show “Dancing with cinema”, a ballet dedicated to Maestro Ennio Morricone.

Completing the program dedicated to dance will be the Labat Loano Dance Festival (Aug. 25 to Aug. 30) appointment with contemporary dance performances, with the “A dancing people.” and with the internship directed by master Gino Labate.

 

It promises great fun in the 2014 edition of Loano Cabaret, which offers four evenings in the company of well-known national comedy personalities.

 

Kicking off the review will be the award night of the “The trash that we were...” award.”  which this year will be delivered to Alvaro Vitali. The Roman actor, star of a series of Italian comedy films, will revive on the Lovese stage the funniest jokes and gags of Pierino, the most popular hero of Italian jokes.

The July 29, it will be the turn of Sergio Sgrilli, the Tuscan comedian-musician, who will give life to sketches about fatherhood, couple life and absurd everyday life, and then embrace his legendary guitar and give the audience songs from his latest album “ten winds of love.”.

One-man show outside the box, Fabrizio Casalino will appear on the stage of Loano Cabaret, the August 10, with a new show that will surprise for the variety of topics: from Geneva's Cern to De André's poetics, from the evolution of the dog to poetry. An authentic stand-up, an unrestrained flight in which words will alternate with music, parody with monologue.

The review will close with Michelangelo Pulci (August 17), a member of the historic group Rotten Horses, who will bring to life a succession of characters from TV backgrounds that have made him known to the general public. Live, his transformism and the relentless pace of his jokes will make him truly explosive.

To toddlers and families, the’Prince's Garden Summer Arena will offer a program of initiatives, with free admission, included in the framework of the project Loano Family-friendly, sponsored by the Department of Social Services of the City of Loano. The program will alternate children's theater performances with film screenings.

The July 9 the Pirate Theater Company will stage the show “Pirate treasure”. With the puppets' own irony, the exploits of two pirates who are the protagonists of curious adventures and unexpected twists will be told. The review will continue with the Theater of the’Mad Grass that the July 30 Will tell with large puppets the folk tale “Rapunzel”. Always Daniele De Bernardi of the Mad Grass Theater will return to tell a fairy tale on the August 6. Flipping through the pages of a three-dimensional book, a magical storyteller will bring to life the history of the  The Piper of Hamelin, animating magnificent puppets.

The initiative Family-friendly Loano will intertwine, then, the film season, offering the August 5, 13, 20 the review “Cardboard Stories” dedicated to the animated films of Enzo D'Alò. On the big screen in the Prince's Garden will be shown the films: “The blue arrow”, “The gabianella and the cat” e “Pinocchio”. In addition, the August 25, 26, 27, art cinema, will take the form of documentary filmmaking and tell the story of nature with a cycle entitled “Docunaturae, the planet that breathes”. The films chosen for this review are “The first breath”, “Microcosmos” e “The migratory people”.

The cinema Also present will be the 10, 13 e July 14 with films dedicated to the strand “The trash that we were...” dedicated this year to Alvaro Vitali. Movie nights under the banner of laughter and Italian-style comedy will give the viewing of three films: “Gianburrasca”, “Giggi the Bully”, “Paulo Roberto cotechiño”.

And finally, the’July 8, August 1 and 18 with the film cycle “Different Sens-Abilities. The subtitle “diversity as a value” introduces the theme that will be developed in three films: “Freaks,” “Edward, Scissorhands.”, “Forest Gump”.{:}
