Tuesday, September 26 a Loano, in the sanctuary of the Poggio, the celebration of the Saints Cosmas and Damian.
At 5:30 pm In the chapel churchyard, the deputy pastor Fr. Paul Penda will celebrate Holy Mass followed by a procession among the olive trees, with the participation of the’S.M. Immaculate Music Association headed by the Master Davide Nari.
The statue of the saints, who according to tradition were two military doctors, will be carried in procession by a group of worshippers wearing a red cape.
The cult of the two saints was in the past one of the dearest to the local population and one of the most widespread in the Diocese of Albenga. There were many country chapels dedicated to them and numerous altars in parish churches.
The small hillside church, dedicated to the two saints, was built around the year 1000, when due to the raids of the Saracens the population cha lived along the coast moved to live in small houses scattered among the woods in the hills and not visible from the sea.
On the occasion of the religious festival, the shuttle service that as of the 4 p.m. will cover the route from Italian Alpine Club Square a San Damiano and back.
