Saturday, September 23, a Loano, in the’Oratory of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary (Turchini), the last summer concert of the musical season of the “The Concerts of the Turks.”, organized by the Brotherhood of the Turks' Chapels under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano. The review will return on January 6 with the concert of the’Epiphany.

The review “The Musics of the Soul.” will feature the duo Marco Gaggini and Gianluca Rovelli which will perform the “Recital for Two Harpsichords.”.

The concert will kick off at 9 p.m. with the Suite from “Les Indes Galantes” by J.-P. Rameau (1683-1764) transcribed for two harpsichords by the two musicians.

The second part of the evening will be devoted to a performance of the “Concerto in D major K 175” (Allegro, Andante un poco Adagio, Rondo. Allegretto grazioso) by W. A. Mozart (1756-1791).

Marco Gaggini is a professor of piano, harpsichord and music history at the Accademia Musicale di Firenze and the Centro Studi Musica & Arte in Florence. A passionate lecturer, he regularly gives seminars on history, aesthetics and analysis at leading institutions.

Born in 1984, he began his musical studies at the “G. Cantelli” Conservatory of Novara, where he graduated in 2004 in piano with highest honors in the class of Carlo Mascheroni. He continued his piano training with two masters: Gloria Gili e Pier Narciso Masi. With Gloria Gili he followed studies starting in 1999 for several years and thanks to her he came into contact for the first time with the principles of Musical Phenomenology. With Pier Narciso Masi he perfected for over five years, both in piano and chamber music. She has been performing professionally since the age of 16, both as a soloist and chamber musician. He began his harpsichord studies in 2005, attracted from an early age by the music of the 17th and 18th centuries, fascinated by the sound of this instrument and convinced of the need to learn more about the history of performance practice. He studies with Danilo Costantini at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan and graduated with highest honors in 2009. Fundamental is the meeting with the French harpsichordist and conductor Christophe Rousset, with whom he perfected two years in Paris. In May 2008 he won First Prize overall (solo section) at the XI National Harpsichord Competition ’Gianni Gambi“ in Pesaro, also winning the ”Domenico da Pesaro“ prize for his performance of a ”Toccata“ by Frescobaldi. In 2009 he was awarded a special mention at the National Arts Prize, and in 2013 he won Second Prize at the ”Paola Bernardi“ European Harpsichord Competition in Bologna.

He completed his musical training by graduating with honors in Musicology from the Faculty of Cremona with a thesis on the symphonies of Johannes Brahms in versions for two pianos; he later obtained his Master's Degree from the University of Florence with highest honors, with a study on the figure of the French pianist and composer Raoul Pugno.

Since 2007 he has been playing in a duo with Florentine pianist Matteo Fossi with whom he has undertaken an intense study and research of the repertoire for two pianos. The duo has performed in important festivals and halls in Italy (including: Auditorium in Milan, I Concerti del Quirinale in Rome, W. Walton Foundation in Ischia), in South Korea (Seoul, 2007), France (Paris, 2009),

Poland (Warsaw, 2010) and Austria (Vienna, 2013 and 2014). In February 2009, the duo's first record was released, published by the record company “Fenice D.M.,” which was immediately received with unanimous acclaim in the national press. In 2010 the duo recorded the world premiere of the complete Brahms Symphonies in the versions for two pianos published by the Universal label. For Brilliant Classics he recorded the complete works for two pianos by Bartók, Ligeti, Schoenberg and Poulenc. In 2016 he will be busy with his first solo recording project, dedicated to the complete piano works of Arnold Schoenberg.

Gianluca Rovelli was born in 1983 and began his musical studies in the piano class of Niccolò Parente at the Conservatorio “G. Cantelli” in Novara (NO). He continued his studies with Gloria Gili, under whose guidance he graduated with honors in 2009 at the Conservatorio “A. Buzzolla” in Adria (RO). He also follows master classes with M° Pier Narciso Masi.

The meeting with Emilia Fadini becomes fundamental in his musical journey: in 2009 he began studying harpsichord, Baroque and Renaissance performance practices and basso continuo practice at the Scuola Musicale di Milano. She follows master classes with M° Fabio Bonizzoni and M° Ottavio Dantone. He distinguishes himself as a harpsichordist by participating in important International Music Festivals such as Settimane Barocche di Brescia, Antiqua, Cusian Festival of Ancient Music. In 2014 he collaborated with the Mantua Chamber Orchestra as a continuist. He participated in a duo with flutist Mattia Laurella in the contemporary music season Musiche in Mostra with a piece premiered for harpsichord and traversiere. In 2013 he won First Prize at the VI National Harpsichord Competition in Acqui Terme (AL).

He completed his education by graduating in 2014 from the Master of Musicology degree program at the Department of Musicology and Cultural Heritage in Cremona (CR), University of Pavia (PV).{:}
