{:en}PRESS RELEASE (9/20/2017)

Saturday, September 23, a Loano, to the 5:30 pm, at the Mondadori Bookstore the presentation of the book “Mysteries of Liguria” of Luca Valentini (2017, Athens Editions).

The back cover describes the book as follows, “Based on the radio program of the same name, Mysteries of Liguria is an intriguing voyage of discovery of curious characters - such as the “Ventimigliese” Voronoff in search of the elixir of long life -, extraordinary and obscure events - from the Varazzini studies of Don Luigi Borello's chronovision to the Trio trials of the late 16th century that led to the burning at the stake of many women accused of witchcraft - ancient legends of mystics, seers, ghostly demons and miraculous statues, and unsolved enigmas, hunting for aliens, flying saucers and mysterious creatures in the sea, sky and dense forests of the Ligurian hinterland, immersed in the magical atmosphere of an area rich in fascinating and often forgotten traditions. The aim of the book is to avoid generalizations by carefully separating demonstrable facts from mythology through a long process of rigorous research carried out with the support of direct testimonies, documents and investigations of the places where the phenomena take place, taking care never to cross the thin line separating science from pseudoscience.

Luca Valentini was born in Milan in 1970, a graduate of the State Institute of Art in Imperia has spent the last forty years in Liguria dividing his time between his studies and artistic activities, and his profession as a speaker and presenter for several local radio stations where, among others, he conceived and hosted the program Mysteries of Liguria from which the book is taken. He has been doing research related to history, traditions and enigmas for years. He has written for several Online newspapers dealing with culture, entertainment and local politics, participated in various TV programs and supervised the artistic direction of dozens of events and shows. This is his first essay.{:}
