From today until August 25 a Loano will take place the 66^ edition of the St. Pius X Parish food festival which also this year next to good food offers, the August 23, the non-competitive running race Run San Pio.
The individual, men's and women's race, organized in collaboration with A.V.I.S. Loano and under the patronage of the Municipality of Loano and Borghetto Santo Spirito, aims to promote the food festival and raise awareness of blood donation.
The race will start at 7 p.m. on a track of 6 kilometers which will be developed through the following streets of the parish: in the municipality of Loano via Amilcare Ponchielli, via Giosuè Carducci, via Francesco Petrarca, via Grazia Deledda, via Giovanni Pascoli, via Luigi Pirandello, via Tarquato Tasso, via Ugo Foscolo, via dei Prigliani, via Magenta, via Giudo Gozzano, via Dante Alighieri, via Tagliamento, via IV Novembre, via Montello, via delle Fornaci (i Pozzi side) via delle Fornaci (camper area side) via Montello, In the municipality of Borghetto S.S. Via Madonna degli Angeli (with a 500-meter stretch of dirt road) and Via Dolomiti, and returning to the Loano municipality via dei Prigliani, Via Varese, Via Cremona, Via Como, Piazza Don Giovanni Folci, Via Amilcare Ponchielli, arriving at the San Pio X parish.
Participation in the competition is open to all people of all ages. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Awards will be given to the first 3 men and 3 women overall and the first man and woman in the SM10, SM20 SM30, SM40 SM50, SM60 SM70 and SF10, SF20, SF30, SF40, SF50, SF60, SF70 categories.
Race registration (1 euro) will be allocated to the Chaehom mission in Thailand. Chaehom is a very large area (about 3,000 sq. km.) spanning three districts of Lampang province-Chaehom, Muangpan, and Wangnua-in northern Thailand. The missionaries care for 46 villages (out of about 300 total) in an area covering more than 3,000 sq. km and a population of about 80,000. There are six different ethnic and cultural groups in the mission territory, each with its own language and religious traditions. A pluralism of ethnicities and cultures that are a great cultural and human wealth. The mission promotes a rehabilitation program for opium smokers, aid to schools in the most remote and abandoned villages (it supports on-site schooling for about 600 children from poor families), scholarships and youth training.
The food stands will open every evening at 19.00. There will be a choice of pesto and marinara pasta, ravioli, wild boar, fritto misto, grilled meat and apple fritters.
Good wine and music will accompany the dinner.
The proceeds from the bake sale of the August 22 and 23 will be donated to the’ADSO Association (Association Down Savona Onlus){:}
