Saturday, July 22, at Loano, will take place the 26^ edition of the City of Loano “E. Garassini” Band Gathering, organized by the’S.M. Immaculate Music Association with contributions from the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano.
Alongside the Loano band, three prestigious band ensembles will be featured in this edition: the Fenis Philharmonic Society (AO), the “Cardinal Cagliero” Musical Band of Varazze, the Musical Band “Maria Gianussi” by Agliano Terme (AT).
The music festival will involve the city starting from the 5:30 pm. The band ensembles will meet in Italy Square to bring to life the traveling concert that will touch the waterfront and the downtown streets.
At 9 p.m, in the’Prince's Garden Summer Arena, will kick off the big band concert, with the four ensembles taking turns on stage.
La Fenis Philharmonic Society (AO) will open the musical evening by performing the pieces “Castellabate” by Lorenzo Pusceddu, “Concert of Love” by Jacob de Haan, and “Libertango” by Astor Piazzolla (arrangement by Marco Somadossi).
The spotlight will immediately turn on the ”Cardinal Cagliero” Musical Band of Varazze which will feature the original “Disney Fantasy” medley, the Overture from G. Rossini's “L'Italiana in Algeri” and J. Fucik's “Florentiner Marsch.”.
Next up on stage will be the Maria Gianussi“ Musical Band of Agliano Terme (AT) who will present the march “Arms and Brio” by A. D'Elia arr. Rosi, a selection of songs from the musical “Grease” by Casey and Jacobs (arrangement by John Moss) and “A Tribute to Nino Rota” (arrangement by Lorenzo Bocci).
Finally, the masters will be engaged in performing F. Panella's “On the square march,” Alfred Reed's “El Camino Real” (Longfield arrangement) and J. Williams“ "Indiana Jones Selection.
At the close of the evening all the bands will play together, under the direction of the Master Davide Nari.
He will conduct the evening Graziella Frasca Gallo.
The evening is at free admission. In case of rain, the event will be held in the E. Garassini Sports Hall.”.
