The big news of the 2026 edition is the new institutional wagon commissioned by the Liguria Region and dedicated to the “Famous Ligurians in the world“. This majestic allegorical work, which will make its debut during the parades of the Feb. 15 and 22, is in the shape of a large caravel dedicated to Christopher Columbus and will host several illustrious figures born in our region each year, with the aim of enhancing the history of Ligurian emigration and the deep connection with communities abroad.

It's about to start, get ready to smile, lots of colors, lots of fun!

It starts on Jan. 25

The event officially begins Sunday, January 25 in Italy Square with the Solemn ceremony of handing over the keys of the city, where the mayor symbolically entrusts the keys to Beciancin, the official mask, accompanied by iconic figures such as Puè Pepin, Princess Doria, and Captain Fracassa, amid festive processions and the acrobatics of the Alba Flag-wavers.

Children's carnival

The beating heart of the Loano Carnival is the afternoons dedicated to the little ones, designed to bring the magic of disguise to life in complete safety. The first appointment with the children's carnival is set for Sunday, February 1 in Rocca Square, where starting at 2:45 p.m. the city is transformed into an outdoor playground amid music and dancing. This format dedicated to families is repeated Sunday, February 8, moving to the setting of Italy Square, ensuring another day of pure fun for young and old alike.

Parade of floats

The wait culminates Sunday, February 15 with the grandiose parade of floats on the Loano waterfront. Starting at 2:45 p.m., paper mache giants made by master artisans will parade from Piazza Mazzini along Corso Roma to Piazza Cadorna, bringing to life the Village Palio. Amid political satire, references to current events and homages to cartoons, the public will also be able to admire the representative floats of Doria Palace and of the Clock Tower, in addition to the famous Beccian Car, the watering can-shaped car symbolizing the Loogan spirit. For those with a sweet tooth, the entire day is accompanied by the distribution of traditional lies prepared by the White Hoods At the Sea Workers' Cottage.

The Palio of the Commons

The grand finale of the kermis is scheduled for Sunday, February 22 with the dispute of the Palio of the Commons. On this occasion, the winning floats of Loano will challenge spectacular achievements from neighboring towns on the Riviera and inland in a final, grand parade by the sea. Also during the last Sunday of the festivities, it will be possible to taste the delicious handmade lies available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Another important innovation this year concerns the direct involvement of the public and the method of awarding prizes. Whereas in the past winners were decreed individually during the parades, in 2026 the proclamation of the Palio dei Borghi and the Palio dei Comuni will take place simultaneously on Sunday, February 22, at the end of the five-week festival. For the first time, in addition to the vote of the technical jury present on the route, it will be possible to Vote for your favorite float online Through official social channels, thus allowing fans and tourists to become active participants in the competition.

Thanks to the prestigious recognition of Historic Carnival obtained from the Ministry of Culture, the CarnevaLöa proves itself not only as a popular festival, but as a fundamental pillar of Liguria's tourist and cultural offerings, capable of enchanting thousands of visitors each year.
