{:en}PRESS RELEASE (5/23/2017)
Great interest was aroused by the pottery exhibition Of the five artists of the association “Avec of Vallauris” which closed Sunday, May 20 a Loano.
Curated by the ceramist Joan Oreglia, under the auspices of the Municipality of Loano and of the’Association Vallaurienne d'Expansion Ceramique the art itinerary, set up in the Mosaic Room of Doria Palace brought together the works of the artists Mireille Andelu, Jean Marie Baudet, Daniel Branchard, Marcel Giraud, Marc Piano.
Also on display for the occasion were four Picasso posters.
On the opening day, a Picasso “affiche” was donated to the Loano Municipal Administration.
This artistic-cultural exchange began when Giovanna Oreglia, for many years a frequent visitor to Vallauris and to the ateliers of the ceramists who work there, became acquainted with the A.V.E.C. Association (Vallauris Association for the Expansion of Ceramics), which aims to disseminate and acquire new forms and techniques and to give visibility to its members.
“They are part of this institution," explains Joan Oreglia - most of the town's potters in southern Provence and some foreigners.
It is twinned with the Picasso Museum in Buitrago (Madrid), founded by Eugenio Arias, a Spaniard, Picasso's great friend and his “barber,” who, upon his death, left Vallauris his estate and works donated to him by the great master.
During his long stay in Vallauris, Pablo Picasso, at every occasion, folk festivals, reviews and exhibitions, elaborated and then made gifts to the A.V.E.C. of “affiches,” which the Association jealously guards, but does not fail to share with art lovers.”{:}
