PRESS RELEASE (23/1/2017)

They continue to Loano initiatives promoted by the Environment and School Departments of the City of Loano, in cooperation with Loano schools, on the topic of recycling and environmental protection.

Tuesday, 24th e Wednesday, January 25 at Sports Hall “E. Garassini”, for the elementary school students of Loano, will stage “The accordion”, a play to reflect on the theme of recycling in a fun way.

Staged by the actors of the co-op. Erica of Alba will tell the story of the encounter between an eccentric eco-worker and an artist with superhero ambitions, both searching for a solution to clean up the world's waste.

It will be a musician who will bring to light the value of thrown-away materials, showing them how much his life has changed after retrieving an accordion, right next to the recycling bin.

The show will end with students engaging in a blues jam session during which they will play discarded objects and sing about the power of proper waste management.

“The show," says Councillor for the Environment. Manuela Zunino - wants to offer elementary school children an opportunity to reflect on the importance of the materials of which waste is composed and the importance of recycling. Using fun and engaging language, we hope to once again raise awareness among the youngest children to get to the point where they can better involve their families in the new waste management system. In the path of raising awareness of environmental issues initiated at Loano, we have found in the school a good partner. An example of this is the “Recycle to Art” exhibition we hosted in Palazzo Doria, a project that involved teachers and Primary School students on the theme of recycling.”.

“The environment is an issue that affects many of the choices we make every day. For many years already, the Municipality of Loano has been promoting activities in schools, focusing on children to increase the Loano community's respect for the environment," says Vice Mayor Luca Lettieri - One example is the Pedibus, a sustainable mobility project that aims to promote routes for children to walk to school. This service, which concerns the Loano elementary school, not only gives children the opportunity to socialize and do daily physical activity, but also contributes to the decrease in traffic around the school, thus reducing pollution. We hope that even on issues such as separate waste collection, more and more people understand what the benefits are for future generations, contributing every day with small gestures to make the door-to-door collection system work.”.
