“It's Christmas time.” is the title of the scheduled performance Saturday, December 17, a Loano In the show area of the marketplace Christmas Magic Village.
The afternoon of music, organized by the’Multipurpose Cultural Center Association of Loano under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano, will feature The Vocalists.
At 5 p.m., the ensemble directed by Gaudia Geijsen will perform a Christmas repertoire, ranging between traditional and contemporary songs from all over Europe and overseas. On stage solo voices will take turns on multiple vocal planes, all accompanied on piano by the Maestro Alessandro Delfino.
The concert will open with the traditional songs “Wenceslas my good king”, “Ding dong merrily ahigh”, “Or how, or how Emanuel” and will continue with “Shepherd leave decoying” e “Let us wander“ by H. Purcell. The choir will then perform “There is no Rose of such virtue” (traditional), “Hail Mary” by P. Mascagni, “The little drummer boy” by K. Davis, “Mary's Boy Child” by J. F. Hairston, “God rest you merry, gentlemen” (traditional), “Winter Wonderland” by F. Bernard, “It's Christmas Time all over the world” by H. Martin, “White Christmas” by I. Berlin. The concert will close with a performance of “Happy Xmas, war is over” by John Lennon & Yoko Ono.
The concert will be presented by Enrica Scotto.
The vocalists are a formation composed of 15 singers, united by a passion for cultured music and a love of singing. The group was founded in 2014 in Albenga on the initiative of Gaudia Geijsen, a Dutch soprano who is also the current director of the group. The ensemble's repertoire is extensive, ranging from late medieval music to music of the last century to music of today (including popular music, cross-overs and musicals), from monody to polyphony, both with instrumental accompaniment and a cappella.
Gaudia Geijsen studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory and graduated from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. She has sung as a soloist in many theaters in various countries around the world and has made a name for herself with her interpretations of Lieder (Sibelius, Brahms, Wolf and Strauss).
Before and after the concert you can visit the marketplace Christmas Magic Village. Many gift ideas will be available in the wooden playhouses. One can choose from handmade Christmas items, collectible toys, scented candles, souvenir photos and personalized calendars. Ample space is also given to local products, spices, dehydrated fruit, tea, herbal teas, jams, honey.
The market will also be enriched by the many streetfood spots where many delicacies can be tasted.
A visit to Santa Claus to deliver the Christmas wish letter and take a photo will be a must for children. An elf make-up artist Will play with the little ones.
