Wednesday, December 7 Loano will turn on the A Thousand Lights of the Holidays, kicking off the events that will enliven the city until Jan. 8.

Loano, again this year, will welcome tourists with a warm Christmas atmosphere. From Immaculate Conception to Epiphany, the’artistic lighting will festively dress up the city and the calendar of events Christmas enchantments, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano, will make the holidays more enjoyable.

On the program will be concerts, book presentation, Christmas markets, family initiatives, sporting events. Two of the initiatives dearest to tourists and residents will also be renewed: the traditional winter sea dive and the spectacular fireworks.

Also confirmed is the New Year's Eve in the Square, with a great end-of-year show in the company of the historic Radio DEEJAY host. Fargetta.

 

The Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. the lighting of the big Christmas tree in Italy Square, will kick off the’artistic lighting of the city. The celebration will involve the pupils of the’Comprehensive Institute Loano-Boissano who will set up an original Christmas market and the’Association “U Gunbu de Löa” who will enliven the afternoon by performing a wide repertoire of traditional Christmas carols.

 

Throughout the Christmas season, the A Thousand Lights of the Holidays They will enhance the city's commercial streets. Italy Square will be adorned with the sparkling Christmas tree and bright decorations. A carpet of lights white LEDs will cover the streets of the historic center (Garibaldi, Cavour, Doria and Boragine streets, Massena Square and Rocca Square), enveloping them in a warm festive atmosphere. In the heart of the historic center, a succession of glowing spheres will mark the route through the maze of caruggi (Ricciardi Street, Rosa Raimodi Street, Rocca Street, Colombo Street). A glittering arcade of ice will enhance the streets that line the waterfront (Nazzaro and Sauro Streets, Corso Roma, Mazzini Square), Ghilini Street, Palestro Square and Stella Street. While a bright starry sky Will cover Martyrs Foibe Street and Corso Europa.

Arches of stars will shine on Genoa Street, Dante Street, Cesarea Street, Gazzi Street, Trento Trieste Street, Pascoli Street and Mount Carmel.

On Via Aurelia, a fountain will be lit in the middle of the fountain at the traffic circle that intersects Via Cesarea with Via dei Gazzi, a large three-dimensional ball as well as in the other traffic circles will light up large three-dimensional stars. Verzi will be graced with bright snowflakes. Finally, the lights will draw the profile of the’Oratory of the Blue Chapels and will illuminate the facade of the St. Mary Immaculate Parish. Sacred images will be projected on the outside of the St. John the Baptist Parish.

Also creating the festive atmosphere will be the marketplace Magic Christmas Village in the San Josemaria Escrivà Gardens, set up by the Loano Multipurpose Cultural Center Association. Decorations gracing the market and small chalets with gift items will immerse young and old in a magical Christmas atmosphere. Here families will find the ideal space for children. Santa Claus will be waiting for them in his cozy little house to take a photo with them and to collect Christmas letters. Under an enchanted tree, an elf make-up artist Will play with the little ones.

In addition to the bright decorations, all handmade, new this year will be the new pool center: a sparkling Santa's sleigh that will be available to anyone who wishes to take a photograph. Shopping afternoons will be enlivened by musical and theatrical events which will take place in the performance area of the Magical Christmas Village.

The rich entertainment program will feature the December 3, at 5 p.m., the Loano artist. Ray Fiore who will perform a musical program in classical Mediterranean style.

The music review will continue on the’December 8, also at 5 p.m., with the VoxArt formation composed of the students of the “VoxArt singing at 360°” school directed by Davide Comentale.

the December 10, at 4:30 p.m., the music will give way to the Christmas Circus, circus arts workshop for children, with the group “Uncertain Circus”. It will return to music, the December 17 at 5 p.m., with the choir The Vocalists who will perform the concert “It's Christmas time” and the December 22 with the musical program “Merry christmas” which will be presented by the children of the “Golden Sugar”. The December 24, at 5 p.m., the curtain will rise on the unprecedented “Suddenly you ... on Christmas” curated by the Modern Jazz Dance Association of Loano.

The December 26 the voice and guitar duo consisting of Simona Briozzo e Marco Cravero will engage in a Christmas and swing music repertoire.

The Uncertain Circus will return the December 29, at 4:30 p.m., to lead children to discover the magical world of circus, including balancing and juggling.

In January Ray Fiore (Jan. 3, h 5 p.m.) will return to enliven the market's performance area with his neo-melodic voice. Epiphany will feature the children of St. George Parish who will bring to life “A Fairy Tale Musical” (5 p.m.). The series of entertainment in the Magical Christmas Village will close on the January 7 with a new children's dive into circus arts by “Uncertain Circus” (h 4:30 p.m.).

The holiday season will see the renewal of the Books under the tree. A total of five appointments with books, authors, poetry and music. Conducting the meetings will be the curator of the review Graziella Frasca Gallo. Musical and singing accompaniment will be provided by the Master Roberto Sinito.

Opening the review, which will take place in the Civic Library, at 16.30, it will be Dec. 11 the presentation of the book “Timeless Elizabeth.” (2016, Sperling&Kupfer) by. Antonio Caprarica. The journalist and writer traces the downfalls and triumphs of more than sixty years of Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor's reign and investigates the magic surrounding the British monarchy in the biography, enhanced by a photo insert.

The December 17 Will be a guest speaker at the Nicole Orlando. The Paralympic champion and world record holder in track and field will present her book “Forbidden to say I can't do it” (2016, Piemme) , together with co-author Alessia Cruciani, a reporter for the Gazzetta dello Sport.

They will be Graziella Frasca Gallo and the Master Roberto Sinito (guitar and vocals) to bring to life the 23 and the December 30 at the meetings of “Poetry and Music”. The most celebrated authors will be intertwined with lesser-known ones in a journey of emotion and feeling.

The review “Books Under the Tree.” will close on January 7 With meeting with the author Patrizia Emilitri who will present “Tea, a woman's story from A to Z” (2016, Macchione Publisher). After the summer success of “As if Love Could Be Enough,” the protagonist of the new novel tells about her daily life, making people smile, move and love.

La music will resonate in the holidays with Christmas sounds. L’Loanese Music Association will present, the December 23 at 21.00, in the Church of the Sisters of the Visitation, the Christmas Concert. The Polyphonic Choir and the City of Loano White Voices Choir will perform pieces that belong to the classical tradition of sacred and Christmas music.

The 3 and in replication on January 4, to the 5 p.m., l’Oratory of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary (Cappe Turchine) will host the concert “A piano for Desi“. The initiative aims to raise funds to benefit the A.N.T. Italia ONLUS Foundation - Albenga section.

Always in theOratory N.S. of the Most Holy Rosary, the January 6 at 17.00, will close the annual review “The Concerts of the Turks -  The Musics of the Soul.”. Protagonist of the concert will be the ensemble The Arches of Zinaida. The Chamber Orchestra, composed of particularly valuable and talented young musicians, will perform music by Vivaldi, Handel, Schubert and Sarasate.

The January 7 will be renewed the appointment with Winter tales and with the Twinning with Occitania. The big dance party in Italy Square will be animated, starting with the 4 p.m., from the historic group Lou Dalfin.

 

Italy Square will again this year welcome the New Year's Eve in the square. Loano will greet the end of 2016 by delivering a magical night of dancing with one of Europe's most famous DJs and record producers: Mario Fargetta, aka “Get Far.”.

The aim of the evening is to offer, after the dinner, an opportunity to celebrate the end of the year with a free event open to a wide range of tourists.

At 22.30, opening the evening will be a DJ set curated by the young and already established dj/producer NCL. From 23.30, will come to the console Fargetta, the historic disc jockey of Radio DEEJAY, with house and dance music and some of his disco hits and international remixes that will enliven the square until late at night.

The celebration will continue on first January, with the spectacular fireworks scheduled inlle 18.00 at Kursaal Pier.

 I Christmas markets will enliven the city throughout the holiday season. At the “Christmas Magics” will be added Crafts in the Square e the Antiques and Collectibles Market, which will take place, as always, on the second Sunday of each month, under the arcades of Corso Europa.

In the Mosaic Hall of Palazzo Doria are exhibited the works created by the students of the nine art classes. The exhibition spans the school's various art disciplines: pictorial, plastic, geometric and scenic design.

Lo sports will enliven Loano's Christmas with numerous events: the National Olympic Sailing Team Will be based in the Loano Navy for his training sessions December 1 to February 28, the December 3 will take place the’International Fight Show - Mimmo Polizzano Memorial organized by A.S.D.
