PRESS RELEASE (11/24/2016)
Saturday, November 26, a Loano, to the 3:30 pm, at Council Chamber in Doria Palace, the presentation of the book “The Seasons of Adele” organized by the’UNITRE of Loano under the auspices of the Municipality of Loano.
The meeting will be attended by the author of the novel Carla Polla Bassani.
The loanese writer's first book, through writings, photographs, postcards, family stories and testimonies of the last old men of the country, offers a glimpse of the history of Liguria.
Adele, a maiden of the early 1900s, left the memories of her life among yellowed pages of paper patterns and notebooks of poems. ‘Adele's Seasons“ recount the time of modest but useful things, loves unveiled by candlelight and toil among the silver leaves of olive trees.
Adele, a dreamy woman waiting for a family of her own, goes through the seasons of life until old age, when Autumn gives way to the icy headwind that pushes and whips life.
But it is Winter, the Season of awareness knocking at her mind, that helps her in the monotony of days when “The years seem to have fallen from her face amid regrets and memories that return now, in an anonymous bed that has become mine.”.
Carla Polla Bassani inherited from Aunt Adele a love for writing poetry and short historical novels. For years she took painting classes from International Artist Binny Dobelli, trying her hand especially at the watercolor technique.
Devoted to her family and work as a hotel entrepreneur, she travels mostly to the East to learn about traditions and philosophies.
