PRESS RELEASE (7/26/2016)

Wednesday, July 27, a Loano, will kick off the review of summer children's theater, included in the project “Loano for the Family”, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano, and curated by the I.So THeatre with the artistic direction of Luca Malvicini.

“In the summer of 2016," he explains, Councillor Remo Zaccaria - will return to animate the’Prince's Garden Summer Arena the program of performances of kids theater, with free admission, dedicated to families. In recent years, this initiative has been greatly appreciated by children and adults alike. The children's theater season will host some of the shows from the extensive production of the Mad Grass Theater, a significant national theater production company, which has its production center Vezzi Portio in the hinterland of Finale Ligure. The strong point of the theater project directed by Daniele Debernardi  is the ongoing journey of narrative exploration, through the use of animated puppetry and the original elaboration of music and sounds.”

The exhibition will kick off at 9:30 pm, “Orcs. The true story of Gelsomino and Bedelia” A cheerful and entertaining show, created with large puppets and constantly changing scenery, which tells the story of an ogre who, at sunset, magically transforms into a beautiful maiden.

Bedelia, that is her name, lives in the daily conflict of being both loved and hated by both orcs and men.

It's a real problem because he always has to hide, both day and night, depending on where he is. Worse than being an orca, or a girl, is not really being either one.
Who could ever love her knowing about this secret transformation?

“Let's tell this story," he explains. Daniele Debernardi – to address the issue of diversity among peoples and races in a sober but light-hearted way. Not knowing about other cultures” customs leads to fear of others. The ogres in our story are identical to human beings, only differently ugly. It is fear that can stop the desire to learn, and this applies to each and every one of us.”

The August 3, Daniele Debernardi will present a show about beauty: “The prince of swine”The techniques used will be those of animated puppet theater, combined with shadows and silhouettes. The August 10, it will be the turn of the story, with the help of large puppets, of the fairy tale “The three little pigs” in a fantastic setting where houses, trees and the pigsty will change shape before the eyes of the audience in a magical arrangement of environments.

“The Steadfast Tin Soldier” staged on August 24, will offer a dreamlike and imaginative reinterpretation of the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen, in which, among enormous objects, the actor-narrator will become the spirit of the toys and give them voice and life.

The last event with the Teatrino dell'Erba Matta will be on August 31 with another fairy tale.“Puss in Boots”. In the adaptation of Daniele Debernardi, which will use animated figure theater techniques performed by an actor, with characters jumping out of small theaters whose sets are based on Van Gogh's paintings.

The children's theater program will be completed by the show A Wide Variety of Charlatans (August 17). La Company of Charlatans will create an entertaining show, in which, between jokes, clubs, balls, torches, and rings will fly through the air, and classic magic tricks will be performed.
