At Loano, the weekend will be dedicated to taste. Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May will take place the Ligurian Cake Festival, an appointment dedicated to one of the typical dishes of local Ligurian cuisine.

The initiative, organized by the’Old Loano Association under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano, proposes for two days on the waterfront, near the Sea Workers' Cottage, the tasting of “ligurian cake”, present with several recipes that enhance local products.

The most famous is the Pasqualina pie“ (la verzina), which beautifully combines olive oil, Swiss chard, eggs, and cheese. You can also enjoy zucchini cake (from Albenga), artichoke cake (from Albenga), pumpkin cake, Swiss chard cake, and sardenaira.  The tasting menu will be completed by peach tart, all accompanied by typical wines: Pigato and Vermentino. The stands will be open from 12 noon until the 20.00.

The program will be enriched by two musical appointments.

Saturday 21 at 4 p.m., in Maccagli Garden  (seafront) the food festival will be enlivened by a concert by the folk group “U Gunbu de Löa Verzi”. The folk group will present Ligurian dialect pieces – “A Noscia Föa”, “Fuxe de Zena”, “Ma se ghe pensu”, “O Lidin o lidena”, O Trallallero”, “Quarto a-o ma”, “Trilli genovesi”, “U campanin”, “Voggiu Savei”,- together with some of the best known chants of tradition of the other Italian regions – “Amici miei,” “Eulalia Torricelli,” “L’uva Fogarina,” “La Spagnola,” “O mia bela Madunina,” “Piemontesina,” “Reginella Campagnola,” “Vecchio scarpone.”.

Sunday 22, always at 16.00, in Garden Maccagli, the young talents of the’MJD Music Academy directed by Teo Chirico, who will present a repertoire of songs taken from Italian and foreign hits.
