PRESS RELEASE (20/04/2016)

Saturday, April 23 a Loano, in the Council Chamber in Doria Palace, the conference entitled “Loano from the beach to Monte Carmo”, promoted by the’Department of Culture and Tourism of the City of Loano and organized in collaboration with the Loano associations Amici del Monte Carmo, Maremontana, Italian Red Cross, Loano Civil Protection, the National Alpine Association, and the Italian Alpine Club.

“Loano, city of sport and destination for sports tourism,” says the Mayor. Luigi Pignocca – In recent years, it has established itself not only as a seaside resort but also as a popular destination for lovers of the inland areas.

The credit for this revaluation of the territory is largely due to the many associations that have worked alongside the municipal administration in recent years to maintain the trails, enhance the routes, and promote them through initiatives and events. Let us not forget the valuable assistance of the associations included in the Civil Protection Plan, which accompany and support these projects with commitment and passion.”

“The conference," says the Councilor Remo Zaccaria – aims to reflect on the many opportunities that the Loano area offers tourists, beyond the sea. The mild and sunny climate allows for many outdoor activities throughout the year, both a few steps from the sea and inland. All this makes us imagine an additional opportunity for tourism development linked to outdoor sports and hiking. For several years now, Loano has been part of the “Sentiero Liguria” (Liguria Trail), promoted by the Liguria Region as part of the “Active Tourism” project of excellence, joining the network of outdoor activities on offer in Liguria. Today's event aims to raise awareness of these opportunities among citizens and welcome guests in order to increase the promotion of this unparalleled heritage.”
