The artistic lighting, the Magical Christmas market, concerts and nativity scenes will characterize Christmas Eve in Loano.
Thursday, December 24, in the San Josemaria Escivà Gardens you can visit the marketplace Christmas magic, organized by the’Multipurpose Cultural Center Association of Loano under the auspices of the’Assessorate to Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano.
In the marketplace Christmas magic visitors will find a wide selection of items related to the festive season: candles, Christmas decorations, cribs and many gift ideas. There will be no shortage of delicacies and drinks typical of the cold season. Santa Claus will be waiting for children in his little house to take a picture with them and an elf make-up artist Aida Will play with the little ones.
The marketplace Christmas magic will open from 3:30 pm at 19.30
From 4 p.m. in the downtown streets, pre-Christmas shopping will be accompanied by the musical notes of the Sbanday Street Band, marching band formed within the’S.M. Immaculata Band Musical Association of Loano, which will involve young and old alike in a traveling musical vortex. The repertoire will range from many traditional Christmas songs from around the world.
At 4:30 pm, in the performance area of the Christmas Village, will be staged “Christmas Show”. The concert, curated by Sara Bottero and Cristian Salvati, will feature. thirty children who will perform traditional Christmas songs and dances. The choir gathers a good part of the members of the group “The Children of the Golden Zucchini.” Little guitarist Marta Sciutto will also participate in the performance.
On Christmas Eve one can, then, admire the numerous i cribs that revive the sacred representation of the Nativity.
The many nativity scenes set up in the city's parishes, chapels and oratories trace a true itinerary to discover the architectural-religious heritage of Loano.
This year's route includes seven stages: the’Oratory N. S. of the Most Holy Rosary (Italy Square) and the nearby St. John the Baptist Church, the St. Mary Immaculate Church (Gazzi Street), the St. Pius X Church (Via Bergamo), Oratory St. John the Baptist (Boragine Street), the Mount Carmel Convent (via Costino Monte Carmelo) and the Church of St. Augustine and St. Rita (St. Augustine Street). Each reconstruction of the Nativity play is set in a scenic landscape. Alongside the canonical characters of the nativity scene are figures of popular characters and scenes of everyday life. Sometimes there are mechanical scenes.
