PRESS RELEASE (14/08/2015)

Sunday, August 16, a Loano, the curtain will come down on the review. Loano Cabaret, promoted by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano and organized by I.So THeatre under the artistic direction of Luca Malvicini.

Protagonist of the evening will be Ruggero de I Timidi, nostalgic beat singer, an unlikely cross between Elio and Mal of the Primitives, a surreal mix of The Smiths and Squallor, between Christian, Santo California, Dik Dik, Le Orme, and Raffaella Carrà.

Roger is the illegitimate son of a relationship between a late 1950s orchestra and the great Freak Antoni: in short, an educated neo-melodic with a vocation for refined demential. Ruggero is a perfect cocktail mixing modernity and healthy vintage: he is the nightclub singer that has been missing in recent years. Or as he likes to call himself: ‘a singer with timeless sounds, but with very current themes.“.

Roger has consolidated its reputation as web star (more than 5 million views on the YouTube channel which has 30 thousand followers, more than 50 thousand fans on Facebook), has become known and appreciated for the numerous and crowded live around the peninsula and has won wide television audience (thanks to participation in Tú sí que vales! aired on Saturdays in prime time on Channel 5) and radio (thanks in part to guest appearances on “Ciao Belli!” by Radio Deejay).

Like Jovanotti, Ruggero is “shy but love gives him courage.” And it is love, in all its forms, that drives Ruggero to face the stage and the fans: shyness is a wall to be broken down to the sound of music. But besides shyness, Ruggero breaks something else: taboos. And he does so with songs that cut straight to the chase and have become veritable anthems, both live and with thousands (now millions) of views on YouTube (“Timidamente Io,” “Pensiero Intrigante,” “Notte Romantica,” “Padre e Figlio”).

The evening is at free admission.
