Mayor Luca Lettieri and deputy mayor in charge of tourism, culture and sports Gianluigi Bocchio say, “Like every spring, this year again our city offers a series of initiatives ‘for all tastes.’ Alongside impressive and now historical initiatives, our calendar features many events of various natures every week: from literary to sports events, from concerts to food festivals. The highlight will be, as always, the ‘Notte in Bianco,’ which again this year will have as its main guest a great protagonist of Italian music on whose name, as of now, we keep the utmost confidentiality. We do not want to reveal anything, but we invite everyone to follow us on our web and social channels to stay updated. As an administration, we thank all those who collaborated in preparing the calendar of events.”.

From June 13 to 15, Loano will celebrate “The return of the Dorias” and the proclamation of the free county of Loano that took place in 1575 during the rule of Counts Zenobia Del Carretto and Gianandrea Doria. The event was organized by the Old Loano Association. In addition to being a historical reenactment that aims to reconstruct coherently and on the basis of original documents what happened on July 2, 1575, the date of the inauguration of the Doria princes and the oath of the Loano community, the event will be an opportunity to re-enact the founders of the oldest carnival in Liguria, the CarnevaLöa, which took place at the end of the 16th century because of the Doria family's desire to experience, together with the population, joyful moments of celebration. For this reason, the Re-enactment is included in the CarnevaLöa project, which with its varied programs unfolds throughout the year. The days from June 13 to June 15 will therefore witness an impressive animation of the historic center and the waterfront, with historically themed moments of entertainment that will involve tourists and residents in a real journey through the centuries in the manner of the rulers of the late Renaissance. Again with an eye on the carnival festivities theme, the proposed animations include performances, medieval and Renaissance folk music performances, juggling and jestering, magic and fakirism, games and craft stalls.
