“This book," reads the introduction written by La Stampa newspaper reporter Dominic Quirico - is a journey, a way of discovering that we are all wrong about Africa. When you travel, your beliefs fall as easily as glasses: only it is harder, afterwards, to put them back in place. A long journey like this into the reality of the continent, not just Burundi, is also a suspension in a vacuum. That is why it arouses in the reader a feeling of eternity. The travel-book about Africa, in Africa, is a space in constant motion, where only your inner time seems to stop. You watch as a voyeur unashamedly what is going on around you, and at the same time you get involved, amazed, moved, feeling the tenderness and fragility of humans; and also the fear and horror in the face of the unexpected and the everydayness of evil. You watch yourself as you look outside yourself. And in the end, laying down the book, we see ourselves stuck in the mirror of time as the world races by our side.”
Fabrizio De Longis born in Genoa in 1986, is a journalist. He has worked for several television, radio and newspaper news outlets including “Il Secolo XIX.” He has collaborated with the chairs of various faculties.{:}
