PRESS RELEASE (23/08/2013)
Saturday, August 24, a Loano, will close the film festival “Different Sens-Abilities - Caring Relationships...caring relationships.”, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano and organized by the I.So THeatre.
At 9:30 pm, in the’Summer Arena Prince's Garden, the film “Almost friends.” by Oliver Nakache and Èric Toledano.
The film is inspired by a true story and tells of the coexistence and intertwining of opposites: wealth and poverty (physical, social and emotional), strength and weakness, selfishness and generosity. On the one hand there is Philippe (François Cluzet), a wealthy and educated gentleman who is socially marginalized because of his physical disability due to an accident (quadriplegia, paralysis from the neck down) and bereft of affection after the disappearance of his wife, with whom he was very much in love. On the other hand, there is Driss (Omar Sy), a young immigrant from the suburbs just out of prison, who perfectly embodies the social alienation given by material and economic poverty. Growing up in a socially difficult environment on the edge of legality, Driss lives by gimmicks and improvisation. The film tells of the meeting between these two characters who, although very different, through a series of events discover many points of encounter and mutual understanding, becoming each other's wingman and “salvation.”.
The entrance will be free of charge. They will be fundraising to be allocated to the project “Villa Friend”, after-us, group home for people with disabilities, carried out by the’Association Day after tomorrow Nonprofit.
