{:en}PRESS RELEASE (4/1/2018)

News for children who join the Pedibus. The sustainable mobility project, promoted by the’Municipal Police Department and coordinated by the Command P.M. in collaboration with the Valerga and Milanesi Primary School is enriched by the Bibliopedibus.

After the school break for the holiday season, children who walk to school every day will have the opportunity to participate in the Bibliopedibus, a project that aims to bring them closer to reading by stimulating them with a story during the walk to school.

“The objective of the initiative," explains Councillor. Enrica Rocca - is to encourage creativity and learning through play. Through a short daily reading we will also convey positive messages on important issues such as road safety, environmental protection and legality. Through the help of volunteers and older children in the fifth grades, each day, a reading will be offered from which discussions can arise, already while walking to school, or conversations in the classroom. The children, freely at home or during recess at school, will be able to rework the readings with drawings, written texts or new stories.”

The Pedibus project has grown even more than the previous school year. The service, which kicked off last Oct. 2, has been enrolled in the following 131 children: Almost one-third of all Loano elementary school pupils use the Pedibus to go to school. The number of volunteers has also increased. They are 40 the volunteers staff members who participate almost daily in the activity and other 10 devote themselves to it occasionally. Thanks to their efforts, the following have been activated 5 lines: 3 routes for the Valerga plexus and 2 for the Milanese.
