There are two excursions promoted for the weekend by the loanese section of the CAI under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano

The group CAI owls Loano proposes for Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11 two days at the Mongioie refuge (1520 mt) at the end of school. Different activities are planned for young and old.

The Gufetti Excursion initiative is aimed at younger members between the ages of 6 and 11 and their families. The intent is for children to experience easy outdoor trails, activities such as hiking, caving, climbing, and visiting historical and natural sites.

Sunday, June 11 will take place the hiking trip to Tournou Castle (1340 mt.). “Castel Tournou,” the organizers explain, "is the name of a large cylindrical-shaped rock located NE of Tenda in the Vallon du Refrei (Riofreddo). The important strategic position of this site did not escape the militaries who dug into it in the years leading up to World War II, fortifying it with Opera 243 of the Alpine Wall, to counter and avert a possible entry of French troops into Piedmont."
