Loano celebrates the Green Flag, an international recognition of the school's commitment to reducing its environmental impact.

They are four school sites and as many as six schools will celebrate and hoist the Green Flag: the Primary School Valerga, the Primary School Milanese, the preschool S. Star and the “S. Stella - L.Grossi” Foundation - Nursery School “Stella ... Stellina,” the Preschool and Primary School “S.M.G. Rossello” Institute”.
“The awarding of the Green Flag,” explains Councillor Manuela Zunino “recognizes the Loano schools“ commitment to environmental education, carried out through activities that promote sustainable behavior to protect the environment. This year in particular, in addition to the usual process that involved the schools in the awarding of the flag, a path of awareness raising on the issue of waste was carried out with the aim of actively involving schoolchildren and citizenship in the recycling collection programs launched in our territory. Meetings were organized with experts from the company Stirano, which is in charge of the new separate waste collection service at Loano, within the schools and workshops in which pupils ”imagined” and built objects with recycled materials, which were then displayed in the exhibition Recycle to Art.” Finally, the children were offered, again with the support of Stirano, the viewing of an entertaining play that helped them reflect on the theme of recycling."
“Joining the international program Eco-Schools - says the vice mayor Luca Lettieri -provides for annual planning with the definition of goals and actions by eco-committees, composed of school representatives (headmaster, teachers, parents), representatives of the municipality, organizations in the area with the support of representatives of the FEE. The activities defined by the school sites were different according to the age of the pupils, but united by a strong commitment to environmental issues by both the teaching staff and the children. The assignment of the Green Flag for the 2016/17 school year comes at the end of a virtuous path that also includes the elementary school's participation in the pedibus project with the membership of 111 children.”
The delivery of the Green Flag will be accompanied by a freestyle musical event on the theme of proper waste management featuring a rapper who will improvise on the spot. The musical event will involve the pupils present in a mannequin challenge That will immortalize the moment.
