{:en}PRESS RELEASE (4/18/2017)
Thursday, April 20, a Loano, a new round of “The springtime of books”, a series of meetings with authors sponsored by the bookstore Mondadori Book Store Loano under the auspices of the Municipality of Loano.
At 6 p.m., host of the review will be one of the most beloved authors of Italian fiction: Sara Rattaro, translated into nine languages, winner of numerous awards, including the 2015 Bancarella and the 2016 Rapallo Carige Prize.
Sara Rattaro will present his latest work of fiction “Love on you” (2017, Sperling & Kupfer), a novel about betrayal, family relationships and secrets that keep you afloat but do not provide happiness.
The book's introduction reads, “A young woman waits anxiously outside a hospital room. It was she who rushed the man there who is now hospitalized in serious condition. It was she who rescued him on the beach as he happened to be passing by, she says. She does not say - she cannot - that they were together instead, that they are lovers. On the same day, in another wing of the hospital, a woman waits for news of her husband, who was in a car accident. She was not with him at the time of the crash; he was unaccounted for while the family, for hours, had been trying to get in touch with her. And now, when they inform her that there was another person in the car with her husband, she does not seem at all surprised. The first woman is Giulia. The second is still Giulia. And fate, with its irony, has chosen that very day to bring the two halves of her life into collision: on the one hand, the one in which she is, or seems to be, a lucky wife and a devoted daughter; on the other, the one in which she secretly lives an absolute passion and escapes her mother's respectability - the hypocrisies, the unspoken, an unmentionable truth. A truth that haunts Giulia like a thorn under her skin; a secret that makes her that being so troubled and unique, both bright and dark; a void of love that she carries like a cumbersome presence, a chaos that can only explode. For love is a voice you cannot silence and a force you cannot arrest. The only drive that can bring you back to who you really are.”
Sara Rattaro was born in Genoa, Italy. With degrees in Biology and Communication Sciences, she worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative before devoting herself completely to her great passion, writing. She is already the author of five novels, successfully received by booksellers, readers and critics, and translated into nine languages: Sulla sedia sbagliata, Un uso qualunque di te, Non volare via (Premio Città di Rieti 2014), Niente è come te (Premio Bancarella 2015), Splendi più che puoi (Premio Rapallo Carige 2016).
The review “The springtime of books” will close on May 6 (h 5 p.m.) with the presence of Thomas Pistoia author of the book “The legend of the burqa“ (2016, Ophelia Publishing).{:}
