A day with spring-like weather was the setting, in Loano, to the traditional Village Palio, which animated the first parade of floats of the 26th edition of CarnevaLöa, organized by the’Old Loano Association with contributions from the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano.
20,000 people packed the Loano promenade during the parade from Cadorna Square to Piazzale Mazzini.
The wagon The Burdelluzi Osteria made by the group “I mazzocchi - I matetti burdelluzi” won the competition among Loano villages and will represent Loano at the Palio of the Commons scheduled for next week during the second outing of the floats.
At second place ranked the float Avatar (Borgo di Dentro) and at the third The fire-eater Of the Rock Square group.
Special Awards were assigned to the other wagons: the Scenography Award went to Oceania made by the group I Meceti, the Originality Award a Tex Willer (Maina de Löa) and the Allegria Award a to the wagon Finding Dory Of the group The Priglians.
Announcing the winners was the event's official speaker Gianni Rossi (Leading Tourist). The awards were presented by the Mayor Luigi Pignocca and regional councilor Angelo Vaccarezza together with the president of the Old Loano Association. Santino Puleo.
The parade was also attended by the floats that will compete next Sunday for the Palio of the Commons: Tommy the Giants star (Finale Ligure), Dukes of Hazzard the Return (Borghetto S.S.), Snow White's witch (Bardino Vecchio) and The Pied Piper (Justenice) that took the place of the wagon A Lanterna de Zena (Varazze G.A.V.).
Opening the parade were the two Loano masks, as announced. “U’ Beciancin e “U Puè Peppin” on the Clock float of Loano, followed by the musical float “Everyone sings Sanremo” with the performers Ray, Sante and Tony and the wagon Masha and the Bear With children from Loano Istituto Rossello School.
Finally, the Band “Cau de Noi” in characteristic fisherman's uniform enlivened the festival with popular musical sounds.
The March 5 the CarnevaLöa 2017 will close with the Palio of the Commons, which will compare floats from the riparian and inland municipalities that have joined the event.
