Thursday, December 15, Loano not only sea will offer hiking enthusiasts a trip to the Our Lady of the Guard of Varazze (m 416).
The program Loano not only sea, curated by the Loanese Section of the C.A.I.. with the contribution and sponsorship of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano, again this year received great interest among those who love to walk.
Participants of the walk will meet at the Loano Station where they will take the train of the 9:04 a.m..
“Easy and now classic winter walk of Non Solo Mare," explains Beppe Peretti, CAI hiking companion of Loano - the loop itinerary will start from the Varazze Railway Station and, skirting the Teiro stream, will travel along a section of the provincial road to Sassello. We will then take a steep flight of steps that will lead us, now at high altitude, to the small church of Santa Caterina and the sparse houses of the Costa hamlet.
From here in a short time we will reach the chapel of Blessed Iacopo da Varagine, from where the itinerary continues high and panoramic over the basin below and the sea of Varazze. A final easy climb will allow us to reach the summit plateau of Monte Grosso, one of the most spectacular lookouts in all of western Liguria, on which stands the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Guardia
The return, first on a path and then on a quiet dirt road, will take us back to the Varazze waterfront and Station in just over an hour.”
The walks is free of charge. Accident insurance is compulsory, which for those who are not CAI members is euro 5.00.
