PRESS RELEASE (5/09/2016)

Thursday, November 17 is renewed at Loano the appointment with Loano not only sea, an initiative curated by the Loanese Section of the C.A.I.. with the contribution and sponsorship of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano.

The inland hiking program offers for this date the walk to the Cross of Arnasco (m 646) along a loop route.

Participants in the walks will be found at the 8:30 a.m, possibly with own car, in Valerga Square at Loano.

“The start of the hike," explains Beppe Peretti, CAI hiking guide from Loano - will be from Menosio di Arnasco. From here we will ascend along a path, among meadows and Mediterranean scrub, to the Davì Tower, a characteristic conical dry-stone construction (somewhat along the lines of the squares but much taller and more complex), dating from the 18th century. Then the walk will continue along the ascent that reaches the small ridge cross, named Croce di Arnasco. The descent (still on trail) will offer an exceptional panoramic view of the ridge sloping towards the Albenga plain and the sea behind. The trail will then enter a wide dirt road that will take us to the 19th-century fort of Rocca Liverna, a structure that is part of the defense system built in the early years of national unity. From Rocca Liverna via a quiet dirt road we will return to Menosio.’

The walks is free of charge. Accident insurance is compulsory, which for those who are not CAI members is euro 5.00.
