PRESS RELEASE (11/11/2016)
They are more than a hundred children which this year at Loano have chosen the pedibus service to travel to school. The sustainable mobility project “Pedibus - we walk to school,” promoted by the’Municipal Police Department and coordinated by the P.M. Command. in collaboration with the’School Department and the Valerga and Milanesi Primary School, involves 44 volunteers who take turns walking children to school each day.
Thanks to the wide membership of volunteers, the following were activated 5 lines: 3 routes for the Valerga plexus and 2 for the Milanese.
“As part of the Pedibus project”-explains the Councillor for Municipal Police. Enrica Rocca - “Twinning” with the Vado Ligure Primary School Pedibus will be initiated in the coming days.
The school in Vado Ligure was chosen because it set an example in launching the Loano project, having itself first experimented with the service for a number of years.
The twinning aims to create a relationship of acquaintance between the children of the two schools through epistolary contacts made during extracurricular hours: letters, drawings and other artistic forms of communication in which the children will tell about their daily experience at school, during the Pedibus service or in their free time.
The Municipal Police will be in charge of delivering the missives and collecting responses.”
“Joining the Pedibus service," says Vice Mayor Luca Lettieri - has grown from year to year. Families and the school have understood the importance of this initiative that helps decrease traffic and therefore pollution in front of the school and allows children to start the day with a walk together with their schoolmates. Thanks go to all the volunteers who make it possible, with the supervision of the municipal police officers, to carry out this service.”.
