“The sustainable mobility project “Pedibus - we walk to school” - says Mayor Luigi Pignocca - started four years ago with an experiment of a few months. The success and families' adherence to the project encouraged us to promote the service throughout the school year. In 2015/16, the following collaborated in making the initiative a success 39 volunteers that every day accompanied a Hundreds of girls and boys at school. Also this year, thanks to the activation of the project, elementary school pupils will be able to take a walk together with their classmates to reach the school grounds.”
“The Municipal Police Command," explains Councillor Enrica Rocca - is engaged in organizing the pedibus service, which this year, starting in October, will involve the Valerga and Milanesi school buildings. Three pedibus lines will be activated for the Valerga School and 2 pedibus lines for the Milanesi School. The task of the Command will be to train the chaperones and supervise the routes. To make this service work, the contribution of volunteers is essential. We therefore renew the invitation to join the initiative, which allows children to start their day with physical activity and our city to reduce traffic and pollution in front of schools.”
Children will meet every day at the collection point of the 5 routes and form a snake that will reach the school entrance. The stops have been marked with signs made by the pupils themselves.
