“Susanna's life was planned minute by minute, she jotted down on a tape recorder the questions she couldn't answer because she didn't have time now; she had a lover, her boss, who would make her career fast, she had everything. Susanna planned everything, but she hadn't planned one thing: a dark spot on the highway; and there she was after the spot with a green lab coat on, the mask over her mouth, and all her time planning dismantled.
The encounter with the cat and the crude provincial veterinarian will transform over time Susanna who will find herself nauseated with her world, her work, her life. The cat is a kitten to whom Andrea, the vet, amputates her hind leg, names her Camilla and takes her to live with him, old Bartholomew, the faithful dog friend, and the two geese. Andrea is raw, but real, beautiful, cool and sincere, as is his world, the veterinary clinic, his friends, his animals.”
