Fundraiser this evening at Loano to support emergency relief efforts following the earthquake in central Italy.

On the occasion of the first edition of the “Miss Riviera delle Palme” contest”, organized by the’Old Loano Association, the Italian Red Cross together with the’Municipal Administration and to the event organizers will launch a fundraising campaign.

From 9 p.m. on the waterfront, Orto Maccagli, CRI volunteers will be present to collect donations before and during the event.
Cash donations will be used entirely by the Italian Red Cross to maintain the reception facilities efficiently and to respond to needs as they arise from hour to hour.

“The Italian Red Cross," they say, organizeri – is currently at the forefront of the earthquake-stricken areas. Working closely with the Civil Protection Agency, it is continuing its support and assistance activities for the populations affected by the earthquake. There are currently 262 CRI humanitarian workers engaged in the most affected areas, including Amatrice and Accumoli, Pescara del Tronto, and Arquata del Tronto. We invite the people of Loano and the many tourists vacationing in our city to attend the evening and donate to the many families affected, who have lost everything.

“According to data provided by the National Operations Room of the Red Cross, which coordinates interventions," they explain, Leaders of the Loano section of the CRI – There are currently 90 vehicles deployed in the emergency, including dozens of ambulances, vans, off-road vehicles, and trucks loaded with materials and equipment.
Located at km 130 of Via Salaria, the mobile Command and Control Center (Di.Coma.C) is in operation, having arrived from the CRI Logistics Center in Avezzano.
Two CRI field kitchens are also fully operational in Amatrice and Accumoli. An advanced medical post (PMA) is also in operation at the Amatrice sports field, managed by the Red Cross to support the local emergency services.
The Red Cross is involved in providing assistance in reception centers for displaced persons, health and logistical support, distributing comfort items, and monitoring and registering the population. In some reception centers, volunteers organize activities for children.”

The President of the Italian Red Cross, as head of the National Civil Protection Agency, has called for the suspension of all collections of food, clothing, and medicine, which are currently sufficient in the disaster area. Funds raised will be used to purchase specific items as needed in the evolving emergency situation.
