Tuesday, August 2 will continue to Loano the review “Culture Tuesdays”, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano and curated by the I.So THeatre in collaboration with the Mondadori Bookstore of Loano

At 18.00, in the’Summer Arena Prince's Garden, there will be a meeting with the author Bruno Morchio who will present his latest novel “Fragile Truths” (2016, Garzanti Editore). The Genoese writer will be in conversation with Graziella Frasca Gallo, accompanied by the musical notes performed by Maestro Roberto Sinito.

The new novel by Bruno Morchio stars Bacci Pagano. The detective who has won over Italian readers is back on the streets of Genoa: cynical and sharp-tongued, but also capable of responding to the desperate plea for help from two parents who want a second chance with their son.

Synopsis. It is the summer of 2015, the hottest in the last 150 years. The sun and the cool air from the air conditioners invade the frescoed rooms of the beautiful villa in Albaro, the most elegant neighborhood in Genoa. Every detail in this house expresses a life of wealth, fulfillment, and serenity. Everything except the eyes of the two parents who, desperate and lost, stare at Bacci Pagano.
Their sixteen-year-old son Giovanni has been missing for days. Giovanni is a difficult boy who grew up in the favelas of Santiago de Cali, one of the poorest and most violent cities in Colombia. His past is one of degradation, drugs, and crime: a terrible childhood that his parents tried to erase through adoption. Without success. Now Giovanni seems to be the victim of a fate that has brutally resurfaced and is influencing his choices, imprisoning him. Bacci Pagano is given a task that is all too simple: to find the boy. It is the ideal job to get back on track after the dangerous investigation into the past of his friend Cesare Almansi, which almost cost him his life. And the task is quickly accomplished. But when Giovanni's safety seems to be threatened by dangerous international drug trafficking, possibly linked to the FARC, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, Bacci feels a growing sense of responsibility towards the boy. The investigator finds himself torn between the distant and romantic memory of a guerrilla father, which takes him back to the myths of his youth, and the doubt that someone is cynically taking advantage of an inexperienced young man, hiding behind the impunity of a minor.
The meeting will conclude with the’aperitif.

Bruno Morchio lives in Genoa, where he works as a psychologist and psychotherapist. He has published articles in journals on literature, psychology and psychoanalysis. His novel The scent of lies was 2013 Bancarella Selection Prize. He is the author of ten other books featuring private investigator Bacci Pagano. They have appeared in Garzanti editions: With death there is no dealing, The things I haven't told you, Bittersweet, Tail shots, The scarecrow, An open account with death.
