Friday, July 29, a Loano, the dance will be the star of the program at the’Prince's Garden Summer Arena, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano and curated by the I.So THeatre with the artistic direction of Luca Malvicini.

At 9:30 pm, the curtain will rise on Ballet of Liguria which will present “Mediterranean Dances”.  

For several years now, the Genoese company has been pursuing a study of traditional dances, trying to merge academic dance technique with popular culture. This path led last year to a first performance, Middle Sea, highly appreciated by critics and audiences.

The new proposal Dances of the Mediterranean showcases traditional dances from various countries bordering the Mediterranean, offering a rich heritage of folk history and a multitude of influences.

The show opens with a choreography inspired by travel. Then the dancers will dance to rhythms from Morocco, Arabia, and Turkey, ending with a lively Sirtaki.

The second half will be entirely dedicated to Southern Italy with its folk traditions and dances: the tarantella, the tammurriata, and the pizzica.

The Ballet of Liguria is a classical and neoclassical dance company legally recognized by the Liguria region. The dancers trained at academies such as La Scala, Carcano in Milan, and Susanna Beltrami's DanceHaus. The choreographer and teacher, also from Genoa, Charles Tower, He studied at prestigious schools and his numerous collaborations include Espace Dancer in Montreux, Giulia Gussago Brescia's Compagnia Lyria, Carla Fracci's Balletto Italiano, La Fura dels Baus, Balletto di Roma 80, Raffaele Guerra, Aldo Masella's Centro coreografico San Calimero in Milan, and Jannette Jacques' Balletto di Parigi.

 

The evening is at free admission.
