Cristina Rava In her latest noir novel, she returns to recount the adventures of medical examiner Ardelia Spinola, a woman who loves her job but has a deep passion for mysteries and complicated investigations.
Synopsis. The long avenue in the center of town is deserted. Only an elderly man walks under the sun, carrying a flashlight despite the summer light. It is Spartaco Guidi. A few months later, his body is found in a field. The autopsy is entrusted to medical examiner Ardelia Spinola. After many years of experience, she knows that her job is only to determine the time of death and establish its causes and dynamics. But it is not easy to silence the investigative spirit within her. Even though, in reality, she has other things to think about. Arturo, the charming beekeeper (and cat lover like her) who has been in her life for a few months, seems to be hiding something from her. Something that makes her fear losing him, even though it is difficult for her to admit it. And when she discovers that Spartaco Guidi's house has been ransacked, all her attention returns to the case. She discovers that the man had recently returned to Albenga, his hometown, after decades spent in a psychiatric hospital for killing a friend in his youth. Yet everyone speaks of him as a good-natured person. What could have led him to commit that act, then, and now to suffer a violent death? Ardelia's intuition is never wrong, and this time it tells her that the victim's return to the city is the key to the mystery. But it is not easy to find where the shadows are hiding. Especially when there are so many small details that escape notice. Details that are essential for the pieces of the puzzle to fit together. Until the truth is so close that it blinds you and becomes almost invisible...
The meeting will conclude with the’aperitif.
