OVER 800 ATHLETES EXPECTED

TO THE SEVENTH EDITION

OF VIBRAM® MAREMONTANA -

MEMORIAL CENCIN DE FRANCESCO

 

Specialists from Italy and abroad, including several international champions, will compete on the new 2016 60 km, 45 km and 20 km trails. Open until one hour before the start, registration is open for the 11-kilometer non-competitive walk.

 Loano, March 31, 2016 - Anticipation is growing for the seventh edition of the Vibram® Maremontana - Cencin De Francesco Memorial, which will run Sunday, April 3 on the inland trails of Loano (SV).

They are over 800 athletes expected from Saturday in the well-known western Ligurian seaside resort, arriving from all over Italy and abroad. In fact, the entries include specialists from England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Russia and the United States. Among the numerous samples Also in the race will be four of the winners of the last long race editions, who return to Loano to do battle on the new 2016 tracks, and many other top runners of international stature, both among men and three women.

Three trail races in this edition: one over short distance from 20 Km and two more ambitious ones from 45 Km e 60 Km, both of which are valid as qualifiers for the Ultra Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) and the Cro-Trail.

Registration for the non-competitive walk of 11 km and 242 D+ To be walked at a leisurely pace on hilly and scenic roads and trails.

Many side initiatives in program that will kick off Saturday, April 2 with the guided tour discovering the city of Loano (departure 3:30 pm, reservations required at info@maremontana.it). Also on Saturday afternoon, on the waterfront in the bib pickup area at the Maccagli Garden Space, will be set up the Sports Village with exhibition booths, presentations of technical items and musical entertainment by Self Pullution Radio. From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., there will also be a Vibram corner in the exhibition village where Marco Zanchi (MZ Custom Shoes), a trail runner and Vibram specialist shoemaker, will be available to provide information on trail running resoles and the Megagrip compound. 5:45 p.m. will kick off the’meeting “Running crisis management.”, a time for comparison and discussion among athletes elite on the topic of crisis and its management during a competition, moderated by psychologist and psychotherapist Cesare Picco, which will be followed by the presentation of the competitions and technical briefing. From 6 p.m., in the elementary school gymnasium of 36 Corso Europa, a yoga class for athletes by A.S.D. Jayogando (reservations required at info.yogando@gmail.com).

Sunday, April 3 we will get into the heart of the sporting event with the holding of races that will all start and finish at the Sports Village on the waterfront in Orto Maccagli. Athletes engaged in the 45 km and 60 km trail will start at 6 a.m. and are expected to finish between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Those competing in the 20 km trail will leave at 9 a.m. to touch down between 10:45 a.m. and 2 p.m.

At 10 a.m., the departure is scheduled for participants in the Fit + Nordic Walking 11 Km.

The Sports Village will be animated 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Dj set Edited by DJ Keller.

Always from 11 a.m., in the elementary school gymnasium of Corso Europa 36, athletes who have returned from competitions will be able to use the massage service offered in collaboration with students of the Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Genoa - Pietra Ligure Training Pole.

Le awards will take place, also in Orto Maccagli, on the waterfront. At 12 noon, prizes will be awarded to the winners of the 20-kilometer race, and at 3 p.m. to the first finishers of the 45-kilometer and 60-kilometer races.

Vibram® Maremontana is again this year joining the Short Circuit Solidarity organized by I Run for Find The Cure, pledging to support with part of the income from memberships the project to support the SHERP (Samburu Handicapped and Rehabilitation Program) hostel in Maralal (Kenya), which houses and cares for 125 children from all over Samburu County with severe disabilities.

Vibram® Maremontana 2016 is also a partner in the solidarity project “I run because I have marrow.” promoted by the’ADMO (Bone Marrow Donor Association) Emilia Romagna.

The event, which for the third year has as its title sponsor Vibram®, a world leader in the production and marketing of rubber soles, is organized by the’A.S.D. Maremontana under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano, the collaboration of partners Dances With Boars, CAI Loano, CRI Loano, SMTS Liguria, ARI Loano and the valuable support of numerous volunteers and associations in the area.
