L’Loano Association “Friends of the Carmo” provided the cleaning of the Monumental juniperwhich is located in Loano In the locality of Stevi.
The tree intervention was carried out following permission from the Forestry Corps of Loano and of the’Technical Office of the City of Loano.
Volunteers of the Loano association, under the direction of the expert and connoisseur of the area Gianni Oliva, they removed the weedy ivy that was jeopardizing the survival of the monumental tree, located at the edge of the municipal path from Verzi to the summit of Monte Carmo.
The tree, which has a circumference of 1.90 meters and is 10 meters tall, is part of the 44 monumental treesclassified by the State Forestry Department and the Province of Savona. It is the only specimen of Juniperus “Juniperus oxycedrus” in the province of Savona and has an assumed age of more than 300 years.
