Saturday, February 6, a Loano, to the 4 p.m., at Council Chamber in Doria Palace, a slide show entitled “THE RODAN IN BIKE: from the glaciers of Switzerland to Lyon, Provence and the Camargue.”, organized by the’UNITRE of Loano under the auspices of the Municipality of Loano.
Images will chronicle the bike journey from the glaciers of Switzerland to Lyon, Provence and the Camargue with commentary by the author, Beppe Peretti, Loano CAI hiking guide and mountain and hiking enthusiast.
Currently Vice-President of the CAI Section of Loano, Peretti in more than two decades of activity has achieved an in-depth cultural and hiking knowledge of western Liguria and its hinterland, the Ligurian Alps and the Cuneo area. Engaged as a companion of CAI groups and school groups, he curates the “Loano Non Solo Mare” initiative that promotes hikes in the hinterland of western Liguria every week with a high number of participants.
He has to his credit the execution of long and challenging treks such as the Ligurian Alps in 2002 (from Ormea to Ventimiglia), the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in 2003 (from the Pyrenees to the Atlantic), the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri in 2004 (from La Spezia to Ventimiglia), the Way of St. Francis in 2005 (from La Verna to Reatino), Mount Ararat in 2006 (dramatic ascent with two deceased companions), the Via Francigena in 2010 (from Canterbury to Rome), the Southern Via Francigena in 2013(from Rome to S. Maria di Leuca), the Palestine in 2014 (from Haifa to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv), which he illustrated in numerous evenings with slide projection and commentary.
He also tried his hand at cycling routes: in 2000, on the occasion of the Jubilee, he reached Rome from Toirano, in 2001 Assisi for the Peace March, the Po River by bike in 2009 (from Monviso to Venice), in 2011 the Loire from the source to the Atlantic, in 2012 the Rhone from the Swiss Alps to the Camargue, and in 2013 the Arno and the Tiber from the source to the sea.
