Loano is dressed in sounds and colors for the Christmas and end-of-year festivities. The carnet of events, “Christmas Enchantments”, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano, will warm up the holiday season with concerts, Christmas markets, family initiatives, book presentations, nativity scenes, sporting events. Also confirmed is the traditional winter sea dive and the spectacular fireworks.

The highlight of the events will be the New Year's Eve in the Square, a great end-of-year performance in the company of We Are PresidentS led by Francesco Facchinetti. The year-end event will be preceded, on Dec. 27, by the initiative “Waiting for New Year”, promoted since’ASCOM.

It will get into the Christmas mood on the December 4 with the lighting of the A Thousand Lights of the Holidays. It will be the lighting of the big Christmas tree in Italy Square, to the 17.30, to set the tone for the city's artistic lighting. A warm Christmas atmosphere will envelop Loano. Lights will draw the contours of the most beautiful corners and Christmas decorations will festively dress the city. The celebration will kick off at 14.00 and will involve the pupils of the’Comprehensive Institute Loano-Boissano who will perform a concert of Christmas carols. From 16.30, animating the afternoon will be The Association “U Gunbu de Löa” who will present a wide repertoire of traditional Christmas folk songs.

Always the December 4, in the San Josemaria Escivà Gardens, will be inaugurated on Christmas Village with the marketplace Christmas magic. The setting up in the heart of the city, with the many small chalets, is reminiscent of the typical atmosphere of markets in northern European countries. The gardens will be adorned with a fairy-tale setting: light games and saplings will compose a winter garden. Santa Claus will be waiting for the children in his little house where they can Mail the little letters. The market will offer visitors a wide selection of items related to the holiday season: candles, Christmas decorations, cribs and many gift ideas. There will be no shortage of delicacies and drinks typical of the cold season. The market will open, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., from the 4 all’December 8, all weekends and from the Dec. 23 to Jan. 6, every day except December 25. The market will be animated by photography and art exhibitions, from concerts and by circus art workshops.

 Sunday, December 6, to the 4:30 pm, will return, in the Civic Library, the review Books under the tree Dedicated to reading enthusiasts. You are in all appointments to learn about books, authors, and to listen to poetic verses and melodies. Conducting the meetings will be the curator of the review Graziella Frasca Gallo Of the Journal of Loano. Musical and singing accompaniment will be provided by the Master Roberto Sinito.  Guest of the first event will be Giulio Massobrio with his latest literary work “Rex, a Roman-era scroll may decide the fate of World War II.”, a thriller where honor, art, archaeology, love, and death challenge each other with no holds barred. The December 13, Gabriele Corini will present “Against heart sciatica. Biblical insights on divine mercy“, a reflection on the theme of the divine essence of mercy. The review will continue on December 20 with “The silver goose.” the new book by George Genta, flavored by the tasty recipes of Riccardo Ferrari and illustrated by the beautiful photos of Carlo Tagliafico.
Poetry and music will be the ingredients of the December 27, which will feature Graziella Frasca Gallo (the Gazette gieffegi of Loano) and the Master Roberto Sinito (guitar and vocals). In the new year, the January 3 meeting with the author will take place. Antonio Casanova, famous illusionist and TV personality who will present his latest thriller novel “Twenty-one”. The review “books under the tree” will close on January 10 with Paola Gianotti who will present his book “Dreaming of Infinity.“. The autobiography chronicles the life of a woman who decided to follow her passions and mounted the saddle, grinding out more than 29,000 km in 144 days.

Also during the holiday season, cultural gatherings will be enriched by the conferences organized by the’UNITRE of Loano, in the Doria Palace.

 

La music will accompany the Christmas holidays with concerts in churches, oratories, squares and downtown streets. L’December 8, at 20.30, in the St. Mary Immaculate Church, will kick off the review Heavenly music, dedicated to sacred music and Christmas carols. Opening the musical journey to the city's sacred places will be the duo Paola Arecco (piano) and Gianni Gollo (transverse flute). The review will move to the December 12, to the 9 p.m. at Church of St. Augustine and St. Rita where the concert will be held “Christmas Starns” with Simona Briozzo (voice), Marco Cravero (guitar), Alexander Gratian (violin). The same ensemble will repeat the concert on the December 13, to the 4:30 pm, in the Church of the Visitation. The Dec. 19, at 21.00 at Church of Our Lady of Loreto Alessia Privitera e Gianpaolo Minuti (flute and piano) will give life to the Christmas concert “Sacred Arias”Nicoletta Ghilino (voice) and Davide Baglietto (piano and bagpipes) will headline the afternoon of “Sacred Christmas music and carols” scheduled on December 20 at 4:30 pm, in the Chapel of the’Institute Presentation. It will be the Mount Carmel Convent Church to host, the December 26 at 4:30 pm, the Christmas concert by Paola Arecco (piano), Gianni Gollo (transverse flute), Elizabeth Vosilla (lead vocals). The December 27, to the 21.00, the concert will be held “Journeying into Christmas” with Melissa Briozzo (voice) and Tiziana Zunino (piano/organ). The musical evening in the Church of St. Augustine and St. Rita will feature the surprise participation of foreign artists. Double Christmas concert for the’St. Mary Immaculate Music Association and the City of Loano Polyphonic Choir, who will appear together at two appointments: the December 30 at 21 at Church of St. Augustine and St. Rita and the January 4 at 20.30 at St. Mary Immaculate Church. Finally, the January 2, in Doria Palace, to the 21.00, Simona Briozzo (voice), Marco Cravero (guitar), Federico Fugassa (bass) and Giancarlo Gilardi (drums) will present “Christmas Portraits“.

L’Oratory Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, will host the January 6, to the 5 p.m., the last concert of the review “The Concerts of the Turchins - Music of the Soul” 2015.. The Christmas program is dedicated to the authors J.S. Bach, P.A. Locatelli, N. Paganini, A. Vivaldi, whose pieces will be performed by The Arches of Zinaida.

 Traveling music will be proposed in the streets and squares of the center on the December 24 and the January 6 as of 16.00. Starring will be the marching band Sbanday Street Band Of the St. Mary Immaculate Association.

 The Dec. 27, music, shopping, tastings and entertainment will be the ingredients of Waiting for the New Year's Eve, event, organized by the’ASCOM. The festival in the city's commercial streets offers engaging entertainment, in the vein of Loogan's most successful white nights.

It will be the We Are PresidentS, trio led by Francesco Facchinetti,  to greet the evening of the December 31, 2015  the arrival of the new year with the New Year's Eve in the Square.

Francesco Facchinetti's show will be preceded and followed by the performance of the DJ Mr Cugy entertainer of many evenings in Ligurian and Piedmontese discos.

The first January, at 18.00 at Kursaal Pier, will stage the spectacular fireworks.

Music and dance in Italy Square, the Jan. 2 and 3, with Tales of Winter, an initiative dedicated to folk dances of the Occitan tradition, organized by the’Association Company of the Curious. Guests of the two-day event will be the French group from Nice. Lu Rauba Capeu (January 2) and the Lou Dalfin (January 3). The Occitan festival will also be attended by teacher Daniela Mandrile.

The January 4 and 5, Loano rages for artists in the square will offer residents and tourists two days dedicated to “street theater.” The streets and squares of the historic center will be enlivened by colorful parades of performers, a circus workshop and performances by stilt-walkers, tightrope walkers and jugglers.

I Christmas markets will enliven the city throughout the holiday season. At the “Christmas Magics” will be added Crafts in the Square e the Antiques and Collectibles Market, which will take place, as always, on the second Sunday of each month, under the arcades of Corso Europa.

Dec. 28, from 10 a.m, in the Neptune Baths, the XXIXTH edition of the Winter Swimming Tournament, event that every year welcomes the bravest sportsmen and women. In the stretch of water in front of the Neptune Baths, enthusiastic daredevils will put themselves to the test by tackling the traditional end-of-year “plunge into the sea.” The party by the sea will be accompanied by the music and entertainment of Luca Valentini.

The calendar of events will, in addition, be enriched by the outings of Loano not only sea and from the photo exhibition “History of Carmo”, promoted by the’Friends of the Carmo Association, which will remain set up in Palazzo Doria from December 5 to January 10.

Also the sports, finally, will be featured in the Lovese Christmas calendar. The December 5, in the E. Garassini Sports Hall will take place the’International Fight Show - Mimmo Polizzano Memorial, which includes professional and amateur kick boxing, Muay Thai, K1 style matches. Also in the Sports Hall from the 27 at December 30 will be held on City of Loano - Ettore Mussi Youth Soccer Tournament,  reserved for the categories Chicks and Little Friends, and organized by the’ASD Loanesi San Francesco.
