Loano is preparing to welcome the’11th edition of the City of Loano National Award for Italian Traditional Music, organized by the’Society of the Curious Association in collaboration with the’Department of Tourism and Culture of the City of Loano, with contributions from the A. Foundation De Mari and the sponsorship of the Liguria Region,of the’ANCI and the MEI.
From September 25 to 27, the city will once again become the capital of Italian popular music with concerts, meetings, award ceremonies and a seminar for industry professionals.
In this edition, the Prize will host a large representation of Italian festivals of popular and traditional music, artistic directors and music journalists.
The meeting opportunity for cultural workers in the field, from all over Italy, will be the seminar titled “THE DREAM OF ORGANIZING A FESTIVAL and not closing it before waking up.”, which will take place Sunday, September 27 at Civic Library, in Kursaal Palace.
The study meeting will be attended by Luigi Chiriatti (Taranta Night - Apulia), Andrea Del Favero (Folkest - Friuli), Davide Valfrè (Turin Folkclub), Mauro Palmas (Sea and Mines - Sardinia), Remo Giordano (Uvernada - Piedmont), Enrico Grammaroli (Gianni Bosio Circle-Rome), Paolo Dall'Ara (Ététrad - Aosta Valley), Ettore Castagna (Palearizza - Calabria), Riccardo Tesi (Quarrata Folk Festival - Tuscany), Nando Citarella (Ethnics - Campania). In addition, the following will be present. Jacopo Tomatis (The Music Journal), Salvatore Esposito (Blogfoolk), Roberto G. Sacks (Folkbulletin).
The seminar proposes a time to reflect on issues that are central today for those working in various capacities to promote contemporary traditional music. Three themes will be addressed during the seminar: What relationship between festivals and territory?, What content and for whom? e sustainability.
The goal of the SEMINAR is to promote a theoretical-practical discussion, with the intention of sharing knowledge about organizational models and best practices that enable cultural design to lay a solid and lasting foundation.
The seminar aims to bring different realities into dialogue, to focus on the multiplicity and diversity of stories and, at the same time, to identify and share common points with the intention of building an overall picture, the result of a common reflection. The ultimate goal is to bring out the priorities and themes that each of the participants will be able to bring back to their own reality, rework and transform into concrete actions.
