Thursday, August 27, to the 9 p.m., a Loano, will continue the review “The Turchini Concerts, organized by the Brotherhood of the Turks' Chapels under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano.
At 9 p.m., l’Oratory Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, will host the second event of the program dedicated to “The Musics of the Soul.”. The protagonist of the sacred music concert will be the voice-organ duo formed by. Karin Selva and Maria Cecilia Farina who will present “Sacra Harmonia”.
The evening's program will feature soprano arias byHenry Purcell, Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Haendel.
Karin Selva began her musical training at the age of five. A graduate in cello and opera singing, she perfected her skills with Carmen Vilalta, Helga Müller-Molinari, Barbara Schlick, Marius van Altena, and Patrizia Vaccai. She is currently studying opera repertoire with Bianca Maria Casoni.
A soprano soloist and stable member of the early music group Ghislieri Choir & Consort of Pavia, she collaborates as soloist and chorister with various ensembles such as the Ricercare Ensemble of Revere (Mantua) and the R. Maghini Philharmonic Choir of Turin, ensembles that regularly play with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, the Regional Orchestra of Tuscany, the Mantua Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Settimane Musicali of Stresa.
She sang with Concerto Italiano under Rinaldo Alessandrini at the 2012 Resonanzen Festival in Vienna, and with Marco Longhini's Delitiae Musicae ensemble at the 2013 Monteverdi Festival in Cremona. Notable opera performances include the role of Minerva, Amore and Melanto in C. Monteverdi's Il Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria and the role of Melia in W.A. Mozart's Apollo et Hyacinthus at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.
She gave a Recital of Italian bel canto arias at the prestigious 2011 MiTo festival in Turin, and in November 2013 she was invited by the Unione Musicale di Torino to support a Recital of French melodies in duo with Ferruccio Demaestri. She has recorded for Sony Deutsch labels Harmonia Mundi, Amadeus, Stradivarius, Philharmonia, and Chandos.
Maria Cecilia Farina combines teaching at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan with an intense concert activity as organist and harpsichordist, both as a soloist and within prestigious instrumental groups. She graduated from the Conservatory of Milan in Organ and Organ Composition, Piano and Harpsichord, studying with E.Frick, E. Fadini and A. Corghi, and from the Conservatory of Brescia in Choral Music and Choir Direction, graduating in 1987 in Modern Literature at the University of Pavia. She specialized in organ at the Musikhochschule in Vienna in the class of M. Radulescu and in harpsichord at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena with K.Gilbert. Awarded in several national and international organ and harpsichord competitions, she has given concerts in major Italian cities, in many European countries, in Argentina, Israel and South Korea, participating in festivals on important historical organs. He has made recordings for RAI, Italian Swiss Radio, Israel B.C. and recorded as a soloist CD for Ermitage, Discantica , Sarx , Stradivarius (participating in the complete Sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti). Since its foundation he has been a member of the Ghislieri Consort & Choir of Pavia directed by Giulio Prandi, a group with which he records for Sony-Deutsche Harmonia Mundi.
