Thursday, August 13, back to Loano,after 4 years of absence, the Basüe Festival, promoted by the’Department of Tourism and Culture of the City of Loano and organized by the’Multipurpose Cultural Center Association Loano in collaboration with the’ASCOM Loano.
In the historic center, brooms, witches, bats and black cats are already heralding the big celebration. Protagonists will be tourists and residents of all ages, who will have the opportunity to wear costumes and hairstyles to transform themselves into witches, wizards and devils and parade in the procession. Anyone can participate, you just need to register (Lollipop, 64 Garibaldi Street, Loano).
I costumes born from the imagination of Giovina Mannelli, possess a sartorial quality that is unique because of the characteristic handwork, the refinement of finishes, and the time and passion that went into its creation by a team of volunteer seamstresses. Together with Loredana Icardo, Giovina Mannelli Will lead the direction of the parade.
The evening will kick off at 9 p.m., in front of the Municipal Palace where the procession will be formed to accompany the witch through the streets of the city.
Opening the parade will be the Sun and Moon with sparkling dressesand the Great Wind Witch.Behind them priestesses, satellites and stars. Then it will be the turn of the drummers and flag-wavers followed by magical woodland creatures: elves, fairies, enchanted trees.
The witch, chained, will be led by the austere Torquemadacon his retinue of armigers and inquisitors. Immediately behind will be nobles and commoners. The procession will be enriched by the presence of an imaginative carousel of characters on stilts and groups of witches who will dance to a fast-paced rhythm.
Participating in the parade will be 8 stilt-walkers, jugglers performing games with fire, a traveling musical group performing ancient music, the Flag-wavers and Musicians Group “City of Ventimiglia, the Savona Historical Group, and Lorella Brondo's Attimo Danza Civic School of Loano. In the last edition, more than four hundred figures.
The procession will travel through the old town, the waterfront, and reach the beach under the Francheville Pier where, after the trial, the witch will be burned. Simultaneously in the sky the lights and crackling of the fireworks display. Original creations with fountain, sphere and rain-effect shapes will intersect in the sky forming a magical play of colorful lights, a bursting scene that will create an enveloping atmosphere. Light, shape, color and rhythm will compose an original and unique show.
Before and after the parade on the waterfront, there will be two music stations: in the Nassiriya Fallen Gardens you will be able to dance with the DJ-Set by Disco inferno and in the Maccagli Garden Space you will be able to listen to live music. “Devilish tastings” can be savored throughout the center.
