PRESS RELEASE (7/08/2015)
Saturday, August 8, a Loano, to the 9:30 pm, l’Prince's Garden Summer Arena will host a group that is part of the history of Italian music: the Rich and Poor.
The concert is part of the summer music season, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano and organizedby the I.So THeatre with the artistic direction of Luca Malvicini.
Over forty years of career behind them and more than 20 million records sold in Italy and abroad, Ricchi e Poveri is one of the most beloved groups on the Italian music scene and beyond.
Their most appreciated feature is the interweaving of voices, different from each other, to create a single harmony: the low voice of Franco Gatti mixes with the high notes achieved by Angelo Sotgiu and the vocal and interpretive power of Angela Brambati.
The Rich and Poor will be featured in an exciting concert, dedicated to the songs that brought them to the top of the charts and into the hearts of a wide audience. To the audience they will give a musical journey through time, starting in the late 1960s and ending in the present day, through a repertoire that seems to be ageless, with songs such as “If I Fall in Love,” “What Will Be,” “It Will Be Because I Love You,” and “Don't Think About It Anymore,” not forgetting more recent songs including “Lostly Love” published in 2012.
Ricchi e Poveri's career began in Genoa in 1968, at the height of the beat era. The lineup, which, in addition to the three current members, also featured Marina Occhiena (who would leave the group in 1981), debuted at Cantagiro with the song “L'ultimo amore,” an Italian-language cover of “Everlasting love” by the American Love Affaire.
The band is noticed by Franco Califano who, after suggesting their name, becomes their producer for a few years. From this moment begins the climb to success of the group, which reaches the top of the Italian charts with extraordinary performances.
They are invited to represent Italy at the Eurofestival and participate numerous times in the Sanremo Festival, managing to win in 1985 with the song “Se m'innamoro.”.
Because of their great versatility and irony, they were called to the theater by Pippo Baudo and Walter Chiari, and they were entrusted with the conduction of several television formats.
Some songs such as “La prima cosa bella” sung as a duo in Sanremo with author Nicola di Bari, “Che sarà” in the extraordinary interpretation with Jose Feliciano and “Sarà perché ti amo” marked a part of Italian music history.
