At 21.00, at Civic Library, in Kursaal Palace, presentation of the box set (book, CD and DVD) will take place. “GENOA and songwriting.” (2014, Ggalery), edited by Enrico de Angelis, produced for the Carige Group with the collaboration of Club Tenco.
The meeting, led by music journalist Guido Festinese, will see the presence of Enrico de Angelis and Ligurian singer-songwriters: Gian Piero Alloisio, Valentina Amandolese, Cristiano Angelini, Franco Boggero, Max Manfredi, Sabrina Napoleone, Cristina Nico, Claudia Pastorino, Danila Satragno, Marco Spiccio.
The book's introduction reads, “The work, which is out of print, consists of a large illustrated book and a multimedia support including a CD and DVD. It was edited and coordinated by Enrico de Angelis, journalist, song historian, artistic director of Club Tenco.
The multi-voiced book traces the various phases of song in Liguria: from the oldest tradition in dialect to the great innovators of the 1960s (Bindi, Tenco, Lauzi, Paoli, De André); from all the “flankers” such as Giorgio Calabrese or the Reverberi brothers to a certain vein of beat, rock and prog (a sublime example: the union between the New Trolls and the poet Ricardo Mannerini); from successive generations of singer-songwriters (Ivano Fossati, Cristiano De André, Francesco Baccini, Max Manfredi, and many others) to a recent flowering of new talents--mostly female--that perhaps one is unclear how much they have dotted the last two decades until one sees them gathered and listed in this book.
The content has been entrusted to some of the most authoritative experts, writers and photographers of “songwriting.” The authors of the texts are, in addition to de Angelis himself, Luigi Manconi (who signs the introduction), Alberto Bazzurro, Giovanni Choukhadarian, Lorenzo Coveri, Enrico Deregibus, Athos Enrile, Guido Festinese, Annino La Posta, Alessio Lega, Marco Mangiarotti, Claudia Pastorino, Andrea Podestà, Sergio Secondiano Sacchi, Mauro Selis, Paolo Talanca, Jacopo Tomatis, Renato Tortarolo, and Margherita Zorzi.
A box set was produced in parallel with the book, which, in addition to the pdf of the book itself in e-book version, includes a CD of about 80 minutes and a DVD of more than 4 hours.
In cd, curated by Enrico de Angelis and Roberto Molteni, all the Ligurian artists who performed for Club Tenco have been called together, each with an unreleased live recording taken from the “Songwriter's Reviews,” between 1975 and 2013. Tasty surprises can also be discovered there: for example, an unpublished text by Fabrizio De André set to music and sung by Vittorio De Scalzi (Le onde del sonno); a precious “swan song” by Enzo Jannacci that the singer-songwriter gave to Massimo Schiavon (I passi di una donna); a generous tribute by Gino Paoli to his friend Sergio Endrigo (Lontano dagli occhi); a poem by the great Gianni Rodari in the unpublished sung edition by Stefano Nosei (Un lungo viaggio); a song known by Francesco Guccini but here in the version of the original author Gian Piero Alloisio (Venezia); and so on. The dvd-rom, all of unpublished material, brings together some of the greatest songwriters of the “Genoese school. ”
