Wednesday, April 22, a Loano, in Don Leone Grossi Park will be held the Eco Schools Festival and Pedibus, promoted by the Environmental and Municipal Police Departments of the City of Loano in collaboration with the Valerga and Milanesi Primary School and the’Rossello Institute.
Eco-Schools is a program that involves the whole school in a virtuous path that culminates in certification and the awarding of the Green Flag. This year the initiative has woven into the Primary school the pedibus project with the aim of promoting ecological awareness in children and encouraging healthier living.
“The Eco Schools program as well as the Pedibus," says Mayor Luigi Pignocca - is part of a larger project to promote sustainable environmental protection behaviors in Lovran schools. We have focused on the youngest citizens,aware that they are important subjects for the dissemination of a new environmental culture.”
“For four years now, Loano schools have been receiving," explains Councillor Ino Tassara - the Green Flag, which marks the closing of annual pathways dedicated to environmental issues defined by school plexuses taking into account the different ages of pupils. It is an important recognition that attests to the school community's commitment to reducing its impact on the environment.”
The event will open in the morning with an award ceremony for the 20 children who won the drawing contest “Draw the Stop” which took place over the past few months. The competition was attended by 23 classes who have realized 69 drawings. The judging committee, consisting of. 48 children, decreed the winners and of these the following were selected thirteen drawings, which became signs and were posted at the stops of the Pedibus routes.
“The Eco Schools and Pedibus celebration," says Councillor Luca Lettieri - wants to be a public moment to thank all those who have contributed to the promotion of responsible behavior among younger citizens. But it also wants to be an opportunity to relaunch the Pedibus service, which this year has gathered the adhesion of 80 children and which we hope for the next school year can be extended, thanks to new volunteers, also to the Milanesi plexus.”
The day will continue with games dedicated to the environment and nutrition, always aiming to promote a higher quality of life through small daily gestures.
In the park will be set up the exhibition with all sixty-nine drawings and posters made by all classes on the Pedibus theme. All children will receive a hat as a memento of the initiative. They will be present together with the Loano municipal police officers., even those of the Albenga P.M. Command, associated with the loanese one, the’Autoscuola Matteucci of Savona and the Pedibus volunteers.
